I've no idea why people allow more tolerance to 'celebrities' or 'heros' they're just people ans some are very selfish and nasty

The part that got Me was:
"Stonewall chief Ben Summerskill said: “Rugby players like Gareth Thomas and brave gay people serving in Afghanistan might be better qualified to comment on masculinity than accomplished car driver Sir Stirling.”"
It seems to Me that Ben Summerskill has absolutely no idea about the size of the cojones that were required to race back in Sir Stirling Moss' day!

in an emergency would you prefer to see a racing driver who bravely drives round and round trained in helping himself and a race team or -
a driver of an ambulance trained in helping people
a driver of a fire engine trained in helping people

a driver of a Police car trained in in defending and helping people
a driver of a military vehicle trained in defending and helping people
not to mention doctors, nurses, ect. ect.
sports heroes are JUST sports heroes - and lots of people do dangerous jobs

Do you have any 80+ relatives? If so, there's a fair chance they spout some outdated rubbish from time to time. Look at this way, they'll all be dead in a few years and you'll have something much more important to worry about. Dads 90, in a care home, had a stroke, he makes us laugh, the night staff at the stroke recovery unit were mainly coloured, he said "but they are quite nice".... he wasnt being racist, he went through WW2, Libya, El Alamain and Monte Cassino in the fight for a free world9mm said:

If it makes you feel better you can call me anything you like. There really isn't anything you can say to me on an internet forum that is going to offend me. In fact, there really isn't anything you could say to my face that would offend me either. I'd just use what you said as the basis for deciding whether you were worthy of a response. It's why I won't engage with or post replies to many people on PH who have proved they can't discuss things without resorting to personal insults.
Can't you see that people like Sir S (for whom I have no particular affection) mean no malice when they say stuff like this? My partner's ancient father recently felt compelled to tell us that his doctor is " definitely a homosexual." So what? He didn't then go on to fix up a burning cross or two. He'll be dead soon and so will everyone else of that generation. What would you do, prosecute people like Stirling Moss or my partner's father?

There is far to much PC crap about, too much pandering to the minorities and to all those on here who are saying that these old people will be dead in a few years, just remember that many of them fought in two world wars to give you the freedom you have today. Many of the millions who died for your freedom would turn in their muddy unmarked graves if they knew what depths this country had reached.
Have a little sensitivity.

Many of the millions who died for your freedom would turn in their muddy unmarked graves if they knew what depths this country had reached.
