No. Unfortunately, I'm a bit skint at the moment. I've even decided to sell my SEC because we don't use it and it consumes cash even standing still. Not that I have taken any active steps to implement the decision, of course.
You could drive that car for a while and maybe make a profit - the sensible financial decision is to buy it.I'm now £1k in to spending on my far higher mile early w124 with another £1.x k to go... New dampers means the car is lovely to drive though...

I'd bet my mortgage that it is - still seems to have the same tyres too. I'd love to know what he's looking for it as MikeyW had it for sale at £2750 at the end, so presumably Mark paid something less than that.hadenough! said:

Now that I own a Jag could anyone recommend a garage for servicing near Reading?
king hell, good luck, let us know. How you get on. Well done on beating the shill bidder though.LOCFTM!
I don't really get the problem with CWNR - bid what you are prepared to pay, and no more. They seem to have a pretty open sales policy. If you don't like it, don't bid!

k. Saw it at £4000, or was it £3500? Didn't see it at £2750. Had an E34 535i previously and loved it. A missed opportunity to get one in much better nick.

If you want a Jag from auction you might as well just go and buy just that? Probably cost you less? They even photograph them in the line at BCA!Fox- said:

Cost wise - maybe, maybe not. Buyer indemnities are huge for none trade purchasers, and an real life car auction isn't for everyone. You don't get to drive the car, and certainly can't reject it. (Usually)

And you're going to get the opportunity to pour over it, check everything and drive it up the road and check the gearbox isn't borked at BCA? Nope, you're not.All you can judge at BCA is that it moves forward at 3mph and once the hammer is down it is yours - take it away quickly please or we'll charge you storage.
On a car like that it is easily worth a couple of hundred quid extra to get half an hour with it before buying.

And I haven't even mentioned my other car...

I think I'd rather either take my luck in the ring *or* buy a similar car for more money from somebody like yourself. On a car like that it is easily worth a couple of hundred quid extra to get half an hour with it before buying.
What is the legal status of 'all cars sold by us including this one, as being sold for the purpose of spares or repair, not fit for use on the public highway', out of interest?

Trying to avoid any claims that the car is not fit for purpose. Effectively trying to replicate a trade sale to the public...What is the legal status of 'all cars sold by us including this one, as being sold for the purpose of spares or repair, not fit for use on the public highway', out of interest?
It's disturbing how appealing I find this car: http://www.w124.co.uk/carsforsale.php?page=detail&...

The good news is it has mot till March and a surprise find in the service book was a tax disc till end of June.I apaid the man and took it.
The handbrake fault caused a constant beeping which was seriously annoying. I managed to locate the module in the boot and unplug it so now no beeping and no handbrake.
It had a slight wobble front the front wheels but once i had set the pressures correctly it was much better. I drove it to work today and hit a pot hole and BOOM - popped the tyre. Luckily i was only a couple of miles from work so just parked it up. Managed to find a local tyre place who would and a man with a van. I chose 2 Bridgestone S001 for 165 each fitted. The back tyres were already pretty much brand new but some turd korean brand.
The tyre man did say the off side wheel has a slight buckle. The pot hole I hit was near side.
So yeah the car goes well enough. I quite like the drive. If you have not driven an s-type I recommend it. Mine has the 18 inch wheels and its a sport. I don't know if this makes.muxhof a difference. The drive is quite connected. Good feedback and you can feel the back end moving around slightly - no understeer here - probably helped by the Korean rear end. Brakes are strong but fade after one hard stop. The clutch bite is a little low but the gear change is positive and the seatin position good.
I really like it and for £3000 i think its a good buy.
The guy said they paid 2900 but have no way to verify this. He said they shifted 63 cars last week. If i had tried to buy from the auction i would have needed a day off work and i wouldn't have been able to test drive it so overall I am happy. I would deal with CWNR again.
Next it needs a service and the little problems fixing. I seem to be gettin about 45 mpg doing 85-95 om the motorway too.

So yes I am now using the car and its ok. I bid on it the week before but was just outbid. Then it was relisted but the description was changed to mention a faulty handbrake. So i bid again and won. I went down and had a look. One of the reason i found the car is I now live in Reading and they're in Reading too. So I took the car for a spin and it drove fine. My first ride in an s-type too. I wanted a manual and the description said it had a noisy bearing which sure enough it has. Other faults are heater is cold only and the petrol flap wont lock.
