DTM at Brands Hatch - 18th & 19th May
Discussion
I’ll be there on both days – I’m lucky enough to be going as guest of Mercedes-Benz. I went last year (off my own back) and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The track is not well suited to the DTM cars, and the racing can be a bit ‘processional’ but the access to the pit, drivers and teams is really good and the DTM know how to put on a show.
Really looking forward to the weekend.

That'll be cool. I've got a paddock pass so I'll come down and have a look

The DTM is one of the best event of the year at Brands, well worth a visit, but it's a shame the DTM don't use the full Brands Hatch race track, I think the India track is just to small for the cars.
Unfortunately the cars are too quick/powerful to use the GP circuit. It's handy that they have massive screens showing the action as 99 laps is a lot to keep track of.
I was at Brands last week and they were already constructing the temporary (if you can call the fecking great things that) hospitality units.
DTM at Brands is an excellent day out though. You don't realise how quick they are until you see them up close on the Indy circuit.

Sadly can't make it this year as we're off to a friend's wedding. It's a good do usually but even rain has failed to make the racing particularly good in the headline category in previous years. The Elise Trophy races are invariably superb though.

Is that an official mandate that DTM cars are too quick/powerful for the GP Circuit? How did they get away with Superleague then? Those cars were significantly louder, faster and more powerful than DTM.
Could it come down to sanctioning bodies, insurance and suchlike? Might be a DTM imposed limit rather than the circuit. Example I can think of is top fuel dragster versus nitro funnycar at Santa Pod. The dragsters run in the FIA series which follows the NHRA mandated 1000ft rule, whereas the funnycars are exhibition (might be MSA) and run the full quarter, despite being at the same event.Chris Sideways said:
Yes I do and know the nutter well
Luckily for us Josh, Doug and Chris are normally miles in front of us in the race. With Andys driving now and those around us a lot less duct tape is required in the put stops.
Best of luck for quali for tomorrow Chris. I'll come and introduce myself on Sunday. When I get a chance to get away from working on Andys car
