Im going up with my brother in law. He is over from Germany and is the Board Director of Continental responsible for all their car interiors. As you might imagine he has never experienced real leather before so a trip to NP in an Aston is the right cure. I'll be there around 9:30 leaving West London at 8:00ish.

Lot 235 takes my fancy, will the big one break the £2.8 a £3.8 million estimate ?

We attended the preview yesterday.

Some great cars up for auction, and some great sights in the workshop areas opened up for viewing.

How this simple sheet of metal....

is crafted into this....

....is truly amazing

We found a car in Yeti's club of wash and polish upkeep smile

though my eye is on some decoration for the workshop, the DB4 sofa is fab..

Were those front ends made just from one sheet? yikes Serious craftmanship there.

That sofa is very cool too cool

The craftsman who created that panel, will no doubt think nothing of his skill; just excepting his ability as nothing special.

But I for one, certainly appreciate the sculptural artistry and geometric skill required to produce it.

It was absolutely fantastic. Even with the new showroom ("very Abu Dhabi" it was pointed out) and re-furb'd workshop etc, it still has bags of character.

We went for the main car auction. I'll post up some photo's (with winning bids) in a bit.

Mrs Killingjoker swears she saw Chris Evans walking about. The Bertone Jet nearly went to someone there but they had to bail at £2,875,000 and were 'just' pipped by a successful telephone bid of £2,900,000.

chris evans was indeed there - in his beautiful DB4GT Zagato parked across the road. I'll try & post some pics up later. He was in smiley frindly mood but not sure what eh was there for - assumed it was the Jet but he didn't appear to bid on it

I know the underbidder - not fair to post on here who he was - he was bidding on behalf of a client. Not sure who the successful buyer was but they really wanted it - the underbidder dropped the increment to 10 and then5k, but the winning bidder suddenly jumped it up 25k to show how serious they were and the underbidder walked away - his first port of call as soon as the bidding ended was for a beer ! :-)

Wasn't able to attend but watched the Bonhams website and it looks like some good prices were achieved against the estimates given.

Thanks for the info. A pic of Chris's car would be great. We were a bit latter getting there this year and possibly missed some of the cars from around Sunnyside. We noted it seemed a bit quieter this year car number wise. Maybe people are heading for Greenwich for the AMOC meet today instead.

I presumed they wouldn't be it was the way I read Mike's post, sounded like they turned one sheet into a full front end.
