morning all.

J's son is off to Brazil for three weeks on a football coaching holiday type thing. Yesterday he came around for diner and as J fretted about all sorts, included his safety and taking care etc, I gently told her not to fuss and worry so much. As we stood in the kitchen, for the first time ever I felt like a father - my father when her used to say the same to my mum. it was a very odd feeling.
according to my parents, you never stop worrying.

I think that is typical though, that the male is the one calming the female down...

They've reintroduced it this year. Adenau Racing Days, the top 20 qualifiers do some donuts and fancy pants stuff in town on the Thursday before the race thumbup

...as I sit here typing this that's exactly what i'm doing with regard to a wedding she/we are attending mid AUGUST. Feck me, why do weddings bring out the stupid in people. He said, she said, he did, she diddn't do.

Everyone has an opinion aout what should or should not be said and done about who should or should not go when actually, the only people who have any 'rights' are the two getting married (who family drama over the b & g not wanting sprogs to attend)

Roll on the end of August. It does my head in.

Uncharacteristically, I like weddings. But I do prefer kids to be there. Not only do they have a really good time but also surely the institution of marriage is largely about children.

apparently the G is very nervous about the whole thing and does not want babies screaming at inappropriate times. At the moment it's full scale tears and tantrums (not fro J, she's the collateral damage.

One book I read on parenting (aimed at Dads) called it 'the fear'. It never goes away, one fear replaces another as they get older.

One gets one's own back though. I decided to call my son 'Nigel' this morning in a loud high-pitched voice. He got grumpy. Other days I call him 'Herman'.

Last picture looks like near the entrance to the track at Adenau?

I can't remember so well, we only went to the town twice.. Once to Pinnochios and the second to that alcohol superstore place to waste some Euros before leaving to come home.

Very jealous! Thanks for the pictures biggrin

It's completely mental. The thing that never ceases to surprise me is that the Germans are such sticklers for rules and regulations, but for one week per year, when the 24H race is on, the rule book is thrown out of the window, properly thrown out of the window and everyone just goes utterly nuts biggrin

I went to the pub for a few sherberts last night after tea, and at 8pm there was a table of five blokes, all easily over 70, pissed as parrots, all wearing motorsport caps, singing 'Yesterday', fekkin bonkers laugh
