DB9 owners could change the red button from sounding the car alarm to an alert for their carers that they are in trouble, perhaps fallen over or the colostomy bag needs emptying
That will be handy for the people who are too old to handle the power of a V12 too

Oh, excellent idea! Now I have to see if I can have metal parts of the ECU replaced with wood!! Much nicer looking, wouldn't you agree?

Well my jag fob has arrived, when the seller said used it should have stated been dragged behind a car ! T@ss&r !! Least I have got a key tho !
Yeah. When you look at some of the pictures on eBay, you gotta wonder what these people did with these keys prior to selling them. Some look like they have been through a war.divetheworld said:
Dremel with a Scotchbrite pad to cut down the back evenly until the Jag logo has disappeared. Then use a small end mill cutter to cut through the rest of the soft overmould in the shape of the tracker tag badge.
Then use a small hot air or blow torch to flame the overmoulded rubber until it relieves the surface and goes shiny. This needs a lot if experience of flaming plastics after machining. You can b
ks it up very easily.
Glue on badge.
Admire.
Sounds awesome. I was originally thinking of filling it in and painting it but I'm concerned that the paint might scratch off easily. You have any extra information or tips you can provide? Then use a small hot air or blow torch to flame the overmoulded rubber until it relieves the surface and goes shiny. Sure. The back is hard plastic over moulded with soft rubberised coating. The coating cannot be removed easily so dont try.
Disassemble the fob and using a Dremel J511JA course wheel, SLOWLY remove the top layers of the rubber coating evenly until the Jag embossing has gone. Do not go near the two ends, the sides wont matter.
Chances are the surface wont be as even as you think. Using a J512JA fine wheel, make the surface smooth. the slightest imperfections will be seen to take your time. You may want to use a hard pad with a fine abrasive paper.
If your fitting an emblem then now is the time to mark it out and dremel down and make a cut out for it. Go down to the substrate taking all the rubber off this area alone. Make it neat as the attention to detail will pay off later.
Now, taking a gas powered soldering iron. Put the hot air or gas torch head on it (such as SolderPro from Maplin) and start to heat up the back. This is called flaming (not the kind George does
).Do NOT keep the torch in one place at ANY time. Flow it over the rubber from 50-75mm away until you see it start to melt. Then keep the melted part flowing like a weld pool when TIG welding and run over the whole back in small circular movements. Let it cool completely before touching it or you will ruin it.
Now it will be very glossy and solid. Glue in emblem and admire.

After new seat covers were fitted I saved some of the old Iron Ore leather and used it on this fob. I pared away the backing on all four edges with a Stanley blade and glued the leather on with Technicqll contact adhesive. The vinyl badge came from 1st4stickers . I have ordered a Titanium 15mm flat split ring to attach the key from EDCgear

So in theory we could match our fobs with our upholstery?
Alacantra anyone?
You beat me to it I was going to do that tomorrow!
If you lift the rear seat on a DB9 ( you may need to remove the aluminium cover) you will find plenty of leather in the corner at the bottom of the seat belt mount.
Can you tell me more about how you trimmed it.
Stickers are very nice!
