RE: Personalised plates: Tell Me I'm Wrong
Discussion
I think the original plate is part of the car's identity - particularly if it's an older one and it's etched onto the windows.
Also, as a car lover, I like to know what age a car is when I see it on the road - private plates sadly disguise this.
I can see the appeal of them to some, but they're not for me

you know what I really dont mind personal plates when they relate to a car like:
F335FER
M3 EVO
M6 BMW
M5 BMW
etc etc
all very cool
but ones that spell names like T3RRY, S4MMY etc make me want puke and punch the owner in the face
Why? why do you care? F335FER
M3 EVO
M6 BMW
M5 BMW
etc etc
all very cool

I can't believe the mileage this topic is getting and the Aventador roadster is going completely unnoticed.
Pistonheads now seems to be pages of debates about interiors and thinly veiled snobbery.
"oohh Ferrairs are tacky"....."that's a footballers cars" ......"its still a datsun".... "boo hooo I don't like personalised plates"
Your like a bunch of cackling old geese.

No, sorry I'm not a t
t I'm a cock
Maybe that's the plan - one thread to end all threads - any future new posts locked and pointed to the "one" we did earlier

That was a very easy and dare I say lazy article to right. Half day?
Not a half day as such as he wrote it from this race: http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=133&i=277...I like them if they are done correctly. I had an Audi TT where the last three letters were JFK (came with the car). This made it a bit easier to find in a car park with lots of other black TT's! I am with the middle ground some look classy some look terrible. Also if the plate has illegal spacing/letters you deserve to be fined.

Harris..Open your eyes fella, bigger things going on in the world.
Probably best you did keep this to yourself.
So until World Hunger, Syria, rest of the middle East, Operation yewtree, Cancer, Heart Disease etc are all sorted we best shut PH down eh ?Probably best you did keep this to yourself.
Frankly, it is all trivial stuff, about cars so it is in context, sometimes we need a dose of the trivial, my grandad is gravely ill at the moment and I can still find the time to b
h about other peoples regsitration plates. Also, we all know, the best registrations can only be shown in white, on a black background, the rest look a bit rubbish, whatever they say.
It seems to me (and I'm standing by to get flamed for this) that 90% of the private plates out there are attempting in one way or another to spell: 51NGH, M0HAMAD, AR1F etc etc.
Funny/easily understandable private plates... They are cool. I don't care if Mohammed drives a black diesel Mercedes. It makes me smile however when a sleeper wears a plate such as C9YA.
My 2 pence anyway.
