You'll have to drive it then! If you can hustle me in a friggin' beamer bread van I doubt any engine will make a difference!

I'd best rob another bank and get the CR box and 3.91 diff too.
It'll be interesting to see how it goes with that transmission, may have to get that for Zolder! Are you two going next year?

Spain yes.

Zolder I intend to. Not sure if I'll have the box and diff tho', as this engine will be a serious wedge of cash when including lightened flywheel, new clutch, new manifold and cats....

Appeparently kidneys only sell for about £3k so that's no help.

Look forward to meeting up next year then. How about a gigolo? Plenty wealthy old dears around, especially in your neck of the woods!

Fek! That'll give me nightmares tonight.

If I stop drinking maybe I can get along without a liver for a while too.

Yes, it will be good to meet up again. Meybe Mike and Sue will be along again too, assuming he only puts air in his tyres.

Have you been in touch with them? Do you know if they'll be coming on the trip?

BTW Did you do the trip with RG a few weeks ago?

I'll not ask anymore about the one where you had your, ermm, incident...

Jill has and we're hoping to see them in the next couple of weeks so might find out their intentions then. It was on the DA/RG trip in Germany that we had the, ermm, incident. The moral is never trust a Tuscan driver with no rearview mirrors!

Y'know, I think there is a story there! I shall wait to see you next year to get the low down.

Say Hi to Mike and Sue; we're sort of in their part of the country next weekend Owell, we're in Rippon can't remember exactly where they live) but doubt we'll have time to see them. Time seems to be almost as short as money!

BTW I didn't know mirrors were an option on the Tuscan; so glad I bought a Tamora....

Should have been a delete option and saved this incompetent a few quid. However it's an ill wind that sees me about to take delivery of a very low mileage 4litre T350C with a few mods!

When do you get it? Be interesting to see if you can notice much difference to the 3.6 Tam. One thing I noticed when testing the RG T305T was the extra noise over the Tam. The exhaust booms more, I guess due to the fact that what is a seperate boot area in the Tam is now part of the cabing. The bloody Targa tops really whistled too, but with the C you won't have that to worru about.

Get it next week.Trying to find out exactly what spec engine is. I'm expecting it to be very noisy - decats plus sports exhaust! Wind noise & looks were the reasons I didn't go for Targa.

Enjoy when you get it! But I think that the noise might surprise you. The last drive of the RG one was still really noisy, and that was with the standard exhaust refitted. Nowt to do with the engine either.

Targa panels shouldn't whistle if they are adjusted/fitted right. Mine are quiet up to waaay above legal speeds.

Yeah, thought the panels should be adjustable. Do you notice exhaust booming much? I was surprised at the level of noise above that in the Tam.

Exhaust doesn't boom on mine. It is nice and relaxed for motorway cruising. Of course it isn't exactly quiet, even with a standard TVR exhaust.

I respects Joolz opnion but for me I just don't get this mid range thing.Keep the Six above 5k and you have gobs of power, keep it below 3k and its as docile as a kitten which is ideal for trundling about.I guess if you like torque then low down grunt is what you like best but what's so bad about changing down and revving hard? Sounds cool too..All IMHO
fact is compared to an ajp8 although the SP6 is capable of within 20-30 hp at it's 7.5/8k limit come down to 5k rpm and the SP6 is virtually 80-100hp less than an AJP8 .. yes one hundred hp!! it's docile because it's got not guts to the midrange.

typical remapped ajp8
7k rpm 390-400hp
5k rpm 350-360hp

typical remapped 4 litre tuscan s
7krpm 370-380hp
5k rpm 260-270hp

so what would you do to fix it
Stick in a bucket type engine, and supercharge it wink

Holy thread resurrection, Batman!

I used search!

Can someone point me in the direction of, or explain, what the sp6 issues were?

I will have a TVR at some point, I just have a fair bit of time to decide which one while I let the cash accumulate. Tuscan is flavour of the month right now, but £6k engine rebuilds are a bit scary. I'd just like to know the details, go in with eyes open etc.

Cheers!

Oh and great showing at Brooklands last week guys biggrin

Early SP6 engines had poor quality components from india The main culprit were the finger followers which wore down very quickly causing the engine to go BANG, that was the main issue but in general the components were of poor quality resulting in engine failure. If you want to avoid paying out for an engine rebuild buy one that has had rebuild completed by the recognised engine builders such as TVR Power/ str8six or Racing green. They have been built to a high standard with good quality components and have proven longevity but you will pay more for a Tuscan with a rebuild, but well worth it in my opinion.
