This is my Aust delivered 3000GT, I have owned the car since 2000. Just recently back from UK for a month or so and woke it up after a long sleep, all good although first job was to get AC regassed for these 30C+ days.

Not the best pic, but just got this a few weeks ago. It's a 997.2 c2s manual.

Currently driving a BMW 1M and riding a Ducati SF848. Any excuse to take the car out so if anyone is in Melbourne, drop me a line.

Very nice! Are you NOR by any chance? A few weeks back I followed a red GTR up the West Coast Highway.

Oh dear!
Stupidity strikes again.....played it a bit safer this time with an ex-GM car.

Swapped my used Calais for this near new 2012 SS, no leather but still has enough fancy bits to keep me happy.

Very nice! Hopefully when I make my move to Perth and settle NOR we can have some good Perth PH meets!

Slightly OT, noticing your 'rego' plates, what's the story with private plates in Oz? Noticed quite a few when I was in Perth last week, expensive? Any limits on what you can have?

Really wanted to buy an Aussie V8 or an XR6 turbo as a replacement for my Falcon, but ended up buying another e39..

I'd have that over any Aussie car!

The E39 is the zenith of the BMW saloon IMHO. Classic.

Cheers guys, I must agree. I've test driven various newer BMW's and they just don't seem to be as good an all round package, especially when it comes to build quality.
I also have what I think is the second best looking iteration of the BMW saloon (terrible picture though)

I'm struggling to keep motivation to plug on with the restoration however.

2004 Saab 9-3 ARC 2.0t auto - just the right mix for us retirees. Not our first Saab.

Another old person's car, used two or three times a month, 1952 Wolseley 6/80, 2.2L six, shaft driven OHC with twin SU carbs, 4 speed column change, drum brakes and no power steering (many turns lock to lock).

Hi Wolseley, I reckon my TR8, or the Honda S2000 is a better retirees choice of cars, But you could sure win me with your lovely Wolseley. That really is beautiful.

Thanks mate, I have a thing about 6/80s, it started when my uncle bought one new. They have a lovely "note" and that long bonnet with the Flying W always gets attention. The shaft drive OHC is also noteworthy. I would have been keen on your sports cars a few years back but now my wife and I have difficulty getting in/out of that sort of car. I owned a Bugeye Sprite for 45yrs but sold it because of that. Here's a photo of it.

Know the problem Wolseley. There are quite a few days when I can't use my beloved TR7, FHC, as I can't get into it.

The 8 DHC sits top down, under a sheet, as it is easy to get in & out top down. The Honda has a really great hood. I can simply lean in to raise or lower it, thus making entry easy.

I would love an old MG TC or TF. Their cut down doors would make them easy to use but they are just not practical as a daily driver today.

With your Wolseley I would have a real problem. Living 25Km from town, with good country roads, I would want to drive it everywhere, but I doubt the supermarket car park would be a good place for it.
