Before you spend stupid money on a torch, try one of these with a 14500 battery

I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed.
I've given that a go. At under £4.00 incl postage from Hong Kong why wouldn't one, if only to join in the debate! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160797985771?ssPageName=...

Mine arrived yesterday. Had a play last night and am hugely impressed. The zoom is very cool and will be useful.
Big thank you to the poster that recommended it.
Anyone popped a 18650 in it yet? (Just ordered a couple)
I've got a Lenser H7 in my work kit, it's very good performance wise, but the build quality is pretty poor. Don't think it'd last long in rain as the sealing of the light head is almost non-existent. And using 3xAAAs means it goes through a lot of batteries if you use it a lot on the highest setting.
One that really impressed me last year was a Marsfire T6-A. As flogged by a multitude of Chinese gadget emporiums e.g. Manafont, Kaidomain. Single 18650, Cree T6 led, 3 brightness levels plus 2 variants of flashing disco modes. Turned out to be surprisingly nicely made and finished despite only costing about twelve quid delivered from China. Claims 1200 lumens, suspect reality is closer to 700 but it's still bloody bright for a pocket sized torch!

As ROB GTR posted above, these cheap torches should throw a very long way for very little money.

So tempting to add one of these to the collection. Question though, do you have to 'scroll' through each of the seven modes each time you turn it on or off or does it remember the last mode?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1800-Lumen-Zoomable-CREE...
HTH
Mind you, not expected until some time in February, so I will have forgotten I had ordered it and it'll be a nice surprise!
9 days from the far east and having dropped 3 Duracell AAAs intyo it I am sooooo pleased. Want it to get darker to see just how good it is!
£9.09 well spent! My furst one with zoom and it will illuminate my front room better than the sun does!
glad your happy with it!
)Its the best £9.09 I've spent! Arrived in seven days too. Bloody excellent little torch with more than enough power for me even using three IKEA AAA!! So a big thanks to Rob for the post.
Think I'll buy some quality rechargeable batteries (Eneloop?) next.

Can anybody recommend some of hese 18650 rechargeable batteries and charger? Quite a lot of options out here bit confused.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-protected-3-7v-18650...
Would these be ok?
Edit never mind because of this thread I have ordered 3 torches they use different batteries so I've ordered a charger that can do 18650 and 14500
Several different sorts of batteries and well I need somewhere to the batteries when im out in case they run out so battery cases as well
I've now found the 26650 batteries so will probably order a load of them and that means a charger for them as well and some plastic cases

The Ultrafire batteries have a hit and miss (where 'miss' means catching fire) reputation.
I've got about a dozen of these Trustfire ones and haven't had any issues to date, despite the slightly disconcerting flames design pattern:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...
Currently for sale for the princely sum of £111.99. I've sent the seller a message as I've bought from him several times before for £6.99 a pair so it's probably a typo. And despite the distinctly HK look the batteries were received in a couple of days from the UK.

Thanks
I've actually ordered some trust fire 26650 from extreme deals. So that's a bonus 4 of them.
And some 15400 and 18650 ultra fire though
and two chargers and three torches. However I've ordered a smart charger that switch off when batteries are full so hopefully the house won't burn down
Quick question I assume that any torch that has a tube to make 18650 batteries fit is ok to use 26650 in as the voltages are similar just extra capacity?

Won't be a typo, he'll have whacked the price up to stop anyone buying, but meaning he doesn't have to end his listing until he gets more in stock. When they're back in stock, the price will drop. (I assume!!)

Absolutely right, according to the reply I got from him. The dark arts of the eBay seem to escape me.When they're back in stock, the price will drop. (I assume!!)
