Niki wouldn't let a car get mapped badly so I'm not convinced its that, is it not white smoke that can be oil related

Well it has white smoke using oil and it isnt the turbo

If it was valve stem would it not be a blue/black colour?

Compression was meant to be okay as well so I am at a loss currently!

White smoke is usually head gasket

Yep, white is usually head gasket.

Unlucky, but I suspect the remap, and the associated rise in cylinder pressures, has been the straw that broke the camel's back.

Question is though, where's all the oil going?

No mayo under cap and water is clean and it has not burned a drop of water just oil

Oil could be part due to the rocker leak but looking that doesnt seem severe at at all and the oil has to be burnt somewhere else...

Could it be a blocked breather pipe.

Oh right, I would have thought the dealer would check the car over, silly me.
I went to trade a car in once, dealer just opened the driver's door, started the engine, revved it a couple of times from standing beside the car, switched it off and handed me back the keys. I've known a couple of folk expect their cars to get fully knocked back and the dealer barely even looks at it. Just saying, was all.

Cant believe people are suggesting I try and get away trading a clearly fked car in...

Getting it looked at tomorrow now at my friendly backstreet garage down the road so will see what they say and decide whether to let them fix it or do it myself!
Plenty of places attempt to sell clearly fked cars.

Burning oil is a blue-tinged smoke so it doesn't sound like its' burning the oil. White smoke can be coolant getting into the cylinders as with a head gasket failure, as pointed out above. Could also just be condensation though.

Right the engine is fked basically the crank spacers are in the sump as failed due to oil starvation so the crank can move side to side and is catching on the casing. How the fk the car still runs and is quick I don't know but it explains the smoke as the pistons can move side to side letting oil through.

At least my turbo is good!

I really don't know what to do now as car is worth fk all in this state I can't really afford to fix it as my mini is eating my money I am literally stuck without transport this was only meant to be a stop gap and has left me financially fked as the car owe's me 2k plus 1k insurance near enough and now it's all wasted

But how much would fitting costs be?

I can see it being £1000 bill potentially so at a loss what to do!

Last owner may have knew

I joined the mkivs forum and a member has sold me an AUM engine for £250 and is fitting it for £50 also getting me a clutch and cambelt/waterpump kit on the trade so costing me about £450 all in for a fixed engine, new clutch and new belt and pump it has not been fully sorted yet but from texts I cannot thank this bloke enough already as he is saving me a whole heap of cash!

r-tech recommend a new oil pickup as well as n75 value when remapping, it is a common fault as pickup gets clogged.

Yes I will change the oil every 4,500 miles now read up the forums and didn't realize the engine had such a major design flaw!

Cars are a learning curve, I only found out after looking at remaps for my b5 a4 1.8t.

It might be worth fitting a new oil feed pipe for the turbo aswell before the new engine goes in.
