Supercharger brackets....
Discussion
Hi Dave,
You of all people should understand wanting to explore all possibilities when investigating and researching what's involved in a project and thankyou for the lesson in the economics of design, manufacture and sales. If you don't mind I shall pass them to the guys at work as we've only been designing, manufacturing and selling kit there for 40 years and hadn't worked any of that out ourselves.
Obviously my eyes seem to be defective as well as my back as I seem to have missed anywhere where I asked in my original posting for an SC Power bracket that I could use to copy - there are numerous ways to skin a cat and as far as I'm aware there are people who have fabricated their own brackets whose only commonality with the SC Power bracket will be that they need to ensure that the pulleys line up correctly.
As I said, I would have been more than happy to have bought a bracket (from wherever) in which case I wouldn't have been looking to reinvent the wheel and they'd have received a bit more cash back towards their development costs and not have had to support an install (which I understand they do exceptionally well) however in the absence of being able to buy one then - as I said - "In that case would like to see how difficult it would be to make one..."
So - in summary - had I said "Does anyone have an SC Power bracket that I can borrow to copy" then I agree with you Dave however I didn't ... so ... erm ...

Apologies if my response was a bit harsh mate.
I'm sure I recall Phil Ringwood saying he was going open source with his bracket, but I guess he's changed his mind?
Most people these days seem obsessed with CAD, and no doubt it's a wonderful design tool.
But dont rule out the old school methods, there's still nothing wrong with card & scissors.
You can make as many mistakes as you like until you've built your perfect 3D model, it'll hardly cost a penny and unlike CAD you can touch it & offer it up.
I hope you get your back sorted soon, we need you on the forum cracking your inappropriate sexual double entendres & posting images of testicles.

Message I had back from him was that he hadn't actually drawn up any plans / dimensions and that he does at some point plan to sell the bracket as a product but has no idea when...ChimpOnGas said:

It is - I've had great fun doing my new dash layouts in "DraftSight"...

Depends whether you know someone with a 3D printer ... if you do then you can print it off and bolt the bugger up to the block to make sure its right - just need to remember not to bolt the SC to it to check it.

All being well I'm back in hozzy again next week (I was taken in on Wednesday but released on Thursday with some fun painkillers) which - if they operate - should fix me forever.

Saw a supercharged 4 litre at Snetterton. It was about as quick as mine (new engine version) and Peter's, you will be pleased to hear.
Hmmm now who could that be, uncouth little chap from Essex, I don't think his car was as quick as the modded 5's though. If only I could remember his name.........

Your very welcome to borrow and copy my SuperCharger bracket
Not really after one to copy - have a number of ideas for how I would make my own cradle for the charger itself (and integrate in a heat shield too) but more interested in how / where the bracket hangs off the engine itself. Was trying to avoid taking the PAS idler pulley off mine to assess the available mounting points and their locations in space ...... or, alternatively as per the discussion, if I could find one for sale then happy to buy one.

Well I'm still "working from home" with a prolapsed disc - am on 400mg of Tramadol a day so pretty f*cking high most of the time but I have dropped 21 lbs / nearly 10kg in three and a bit weeks.
Anyway - just had a cost back on getting a bracket custom made - £240 - so this is definitely looking like a possibility!
