Do you think there will be a new model Vantage anytime soon?
The styling, although 2004/5 in design was way ahead of it's time and the facelift V8VS/V12V still look very current next to the new DB9 and Vanquish.

2015 at the earliest for a properly new Vantage IMO.
Aston made a big deal of noting the historic production runs of their truly new models when I asked a while ago, noting the DB7 as a good example. So expect a 10yr run, taking it to 2015-2016 or so.

Always assuming of course they make a new Vantage replacement. That market has got even more competitive with the F type and the latest 911 variant setting the pace. Personally I think they'd be better dropping it and concentrating on higher end cars, with exclusivity being a hallmark. Oh, and here's the heresy, they need to build a SUV for non developed world markets, that's where the money is. 2015 at the earliest for a properly new Vantage IMO.

The Vantage is Aston's bread and butter. There will be a replacement soon.KarlFranz said:

Is it though? Consider the cost to build a Vantage and the cost to build a DB9. Pretty similar I would think. One sells for 30k more than the other... If they piled Vantages high then that;d be great, but they don't sell many more than they do DB9s.A bit like the Boxster and 911, the 911 is hugely profitable by comparison.
Even if you assume that the production numbers for the Vantage and DB9 were equal, there is a large segment of the current Aston customer base that could afford one but not the other. Do you think Aston would lop off the Vantage from its product line and decrease annual production by more than 2000 vehicles and not replace it with something else? Not only would that be a big impact to their bottom line, but such a huge hit in production would surely mean layoffs of many factory workers.

Or only make 500 more-special vehicles at 4 times the price of a Vantage..?That's my point. Who is right... well, this is AML, probably neither of us

This is what i meant Which is why I asked the question, the Vantage represents an opportunity cost in building something that will sell better or make more money for the resources being put into production. That's my point. Who is right... well, this is AML, probably neither of us

Just because Vanatage sold well initially, it has not kept up with the competition, be a good candidate for discontinuance for any CEO having to make hard choices about where to put small resources into a competitive changing world.
it may have been a somewhat mixed & slow build up to the centenary but this looks special - may not be totally relevant, but exciting nevertheless

together with what sounds like a very special replacement for V12V, looks like the year is getting better !

Jonby, surely there will be a toned down production version possibly with a roof and windscreen !! If they could offer it with a V8 and a V12 engine and price it circa £100K and upwards for a carbon fibre cloaked 640 BHP hot model. It would then beg the question . Would Sir like an F Type Jag or an Aston Martin?

love to think it could but I doubt it, not at that price tagv well thouhgt out - indicators in side strakes, road legal mirrors, tow hook hole in grill, proper road wheels & tyres, etc

I've said similar previously, though I hate the idea of an SUV. If they must appeal to places like China, I'd sooner they did a Lagonda badged 4 seater to sit somewhere between the Ferrari FF and Bentley/RR.Something the size of the Vantage is still more than viable, but it needs to be considerably better than the current offering in every department. If they could manage that, and then push out to the other models they could take the pricing quite a lot higher up the scale as Ferrari have proved. But it would need very tight control of supply.
Something like this might also firm up residuals on the current stuff.
These are very beautiful cars that make a glorious noise and are wonderful to sit in. I have had a lot of fun in my V8V and it was a good replacement for my 355. But Aston as a company isn't being well run IMO, and I think there's more chance of me seeing it in trouble once again within the next 5yrs than there is seeing it produce market leading product that I would want to buy and lust after.
I hope I'm wrong.
