Our old gaff just came on the market. We rented it for the last 4 years.

Interested to see what the peanut gallery thinks of it.

But thank you for introducing me to "peanut gallery". Not one I'd come across before.

Why is it so expensive for up north ?
Semi
No grounds (a terrace rear!)
and you are going to spend lots bringing the interior up to snuff
It's also on an A road (surely even in the north A roads are at least relatively busy/prone to speedists) and must be the longest, thinnest property I've seen for a while. It does have a nice look to the "front", mind.
On top of employing short people the agent seems to have produced the floorplan upside down.

Location, as always. It's in the right postcode, and there aren't many houses of that size around. What isn't immediately obvious is that it's north facing, and has large pine trees overhanging 50% of the house. So it's an old cold house to begin with (with oil heat, yay!), that faces north and gets very little solar gain. Why is it so expensive for up north ?

The owners took the rear gardens and built their new retirement home there, and I don't think they really understood how much it would handicap the main house value. The neighbor immediately to the north is still intact, so you can see how much bigger the property is.

Both of these are near me, both new builds:
Hideous: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...
Would love this (but zero kerb appeal and very poor layout), but would still love it: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

The most expensive sale in the last five years was for a waterfront home with over 20,000 square feet that sold for 39.5 million (it was originally appraised at 42.5 million).
...considering this 'only' has 15,000 square feet, would make this a tad overpriced I should say. Mind, I do love the stonework. dxg said:

I'd certainly dig up most of this tarmac and replace with grass .
It's the view (rare for round here), the garage (I would of course add some insulated doors) and - sadly - the self-contained office that excite me. Plus the location. Plus, there's a stable block with it's own entrance way and yard that, for some reason, isn't mentioned in the rightmove advert...
No details yet but this is just on the market at £35 million - http://search.struttandparker.com/residential/king...
