hehe yes I meant the foremost lady rather than the umm first lady to appear in the game. The little Lorraine would be the first lady encountered tier wise. Hmmm. Wonder if there are any other ladies in this World of Tanks other than Lorraine and Matilda scratchchin
I've nicknamed my wife TOG II if that counts...

Anyone got any tips for playing the T20? It's my first tier VII, and I have to admit i'm struggling. I've upgraded the engine and suspension, but it still seems to play like an unresponsive slow light tank. Maybe life will get a bit better when I get the 90mm gun. I realise that I can't play it like my beloved Easy 8, but can't really get to grips with it.

On a brighter note, I'm loving my first foray into SPGs. I got 6 kills and a "GJ Wespe" t'other night on Redshire. I'm a bit loathe to step up to the Grille at the moment, because it'd put me into higher tier battles, and I have to admit I do enjoy the odd bit of Seal Clubbing smile

Don't worry, Fane.. It's completely hopeless trying to use the 76mm M1A2 at tier 7! Once you get the 90mm M3 fitted, you have a great little tank, a fast and agile flanker. Just bear in mind that there are now some very hard-hitting guns pointed at you, and you don't have any armour to speak of, so keep out of head-to-head battles. It'll take a while to get used to a quite slow fire rate, but the gun is otherwise very good.

I think my win rate in the T20 is 56%, considerably higher than the E8 or the Pershing!

I found the T20 to be one of the worse tanks in the game, it doesn't really have many positives tbh..

Allied to the fact that I'm not a good light tank player, and it's a disaster..

Get to the T71 ASAP!! Ten times better.. Imo

That would be the T21, which is crap, because it's a T20 without the gun or the hit points but worse matchmaking - ergo the T20, which Fane is on about, is really rather good!

I hate weekend battles.far too many losses for my liking. Last game in the KV1 and 7 kills and 80k of credits earned - we lost.

Purchased Matilda after reading your comments, she is slow and takes a bit of getting used to, also is a sitting duck in an open field however she sure packs a punch.
Have taken out some big tanks with her repeated fast gun.

Am using the MKXB, only half the shots per min with the Howitzer so losing out on the strength of the tank which is its rapid shots per min in my opinion.

Yea that is the one I am using. Fast shooting but limited punch.

I agree however there are some big tanks which can take a lot of pounding before they show any damage.

Using the 2 pounder the Matilda arguably dishes out the same amount of damage per/min as a KV-1S with the 122mm gun, of course in a higher tier game it won't last long enough to do that as it will need to be continuously firing into an enemy and at the same time be many times more vulnerable but you can surprise a lot of tier 5 and 6 tanks and the only thing I'm wary of in a tier 4 game is another Matilda or a decent Hetzer player.

Drew a game in the AT2 today.

Ran out of ammo after 7 kills and could not kill the last man on the enemy team who was down to 14% health

Went for a Matilida as well yesterday following your reviews.
Its my joint highest tier tank (along with a newly purchased Hetzer) and I genuinely love it. Played around with the guns, liked the big one, but the lack of ammo hurt, and there's not many tanks Ive found happy to trade shots with it, they tend to back off and try someone else smile
Arty blowing the tracks off seems to be an issue though frown
Take the 40mm rapid firing gun over the 105mm derp gun. The derp is too slow firing and too inaccurate to make it really effective. The 40mm has high penetration and very rapid firing. The alpha damage is pathetic, only about 50 damage per shot, but as you are spamming shots every 2 serconds or so you very quickly shred your opponants.

I have a 100% crew with BIA on all of them. The gunner also has snap shot as Matilda is actually very effective at firing on the move, something you need to do to keep the Arty off your back.

For equipment I roll with a Gun Rammer and Vents to make it even more rapid firing.

My Tillys rate of fire is about 1.7 secs per shot. She regularly takes KV1s apart but you need to approach Tier 5 targets with caution as your armour wont protect you against most of their guns.

Against other Tier 4s though, have at them like a total boss. You can penetrate any Tier 4 you encounter.

Tier 4s to be careful of...heavy hitters like the Hetzer, T-28, Alecto, M3 Lee (yes it sucks, but the gun can hurt you), SU85 and ofcourse another Mtilda.

Tier 3s I do not fear at all except for the Marder. Be careful of that gun.

The big downside ofcourse is the ponderous speed. If you cannot live with very slow tanks then this lady is not for you smile

Ended up keeping the top 40mm on it. As you say the RoF is great, I also find it pretty accurate. Once you start pinging tanks in front of you, watching them crash into each other trying to back the hell away from you is funny as smile

Equipment doesnt have to be rebought every round. Once it is equipped on your tank it stays there until you remove it to put on something else. Some equipment such as a tool box can be removed and put on another tank for free, but some equipment is designated as complex equipment and you have to pay 10 gold to move it from one tank to another.

But either way it isnt consumed during a battle, it stays with the tank. The big downside is the cost. The best equipment can cost 500,000 credits to purchase!

The best equipment (IMO) are Ventilation, Gun Rammer and Gun Laying Drive, also Vertical Stabiliser if your tank can take it.

Your tank also has slots for comsumable items. These are basically equipment that DO get used up during a battle (if you activiate them). The most popular ones are Small Repair Kit (to repair destroyed or damaged modules on your tank), Medkit (to revive a wounded or killed crewman) and fire extinguisher (to put out a fire on your tank).

The good news is these things are a lot cheaper to buy...commonly 3000 credits a pop.

I usually stock up on these when they go on sale and wouldnt go to battle without them.

I could talk all day on equipment, comsumables and their uses but those mentioned should be enough to get you going. smile

Just don't calculate how long you've spent staring at the countdown clock at the start of each battle...

Just had one of my best ever games. I'm still not sure how I managed to win it.

Ended up me vs a KV-4, IS-6, Ferdinand, KV-3 and an AMX105AM.

I killed them all. God knows how.

I've had more kills, more XP, more money, but I've never had so much satisfaction as slamming that last shot into their KV-3 that was capping our base.

... and one of our team called me "Pro". (Obviously one look at my stats reveals that not to be the case, but still... biggrin)
