Still I may be saved with this tip.
mine is on the drive with the bottom fairing and mudguard removed and calipers off.

just waiting for the seals and a hex bit so that I can remove the wheel.

Completed the job today.
Couldn't take the fork apart so I used the front door surround and a jack to force the old seal out.
The new seal went in easily as I had a piece of pipe the correct diameter.
Should be quite easy next time as I now know what I'm doing.
