In fairness, the challenge isn't yet set in stone...
Being serious, what a fantastic goal to set yourself. Even moreso considering you're presumably sober at the moment(?) and still considering going ahead.
Good luck!

That's a great challenge to set yourself! Good luck and I'd happily follow your progress! I decided to run 435 miles for post traumatic stress disorder (milesforthemany.org.uk) so anything that pushes you I'm interested in.
As for records. My good mate holds the record for the tightest parallel park. That pretty impressive! I had a go in the same car and I could get down to a foot but between cones not cars.
Anyway best of luck!

My friends step Dad held the world record for fastest wheelie for 1km on a motorbike.
Builds really crazy bikes street fighter style bikes with the back end really high above the wheel. Think his latest is based on a Hayabusa with a turbo or something crazy.
I think he's been clocked at over 165 MPH total loon !

For several years, I've had a record breaking idea in mind. Perhaps in a few years time, a few of you would like to take part and join me.
We place 350 alley cats in pairs into 175 hollowed out taxidermy type canoes made from upside down badgers, each one flies a kite, and they drag Ireland back to England. Then we "have it out" with the Irish, following which we can all be drinking chums again once we have got over our differences, celebrating with a cat-in-badger kebab fry up.
No one has ever done it so its a golden opportunity!
On a serious note, I've watched over the years as the worlds biggest hamburger record has been made and broken. Requirements are:
- decent team
- big baking oven and baker
- notes to buy beef
- flat metal grill, can be made to specification
- means to turn burger over. Trickiest part.
There is more to it than that, obviously, but it's genuinely a fair pop at a fun title I've been ruminating upon over recent years. Participants would enjoy it, is the main thing.

i was going to suggest scotland but the isle of wight sounds like a better idea
How can you row a lap of Scotland? Either way, you can't conquer Scotland with porridge. Not even a dried out hardened and sharpened one.

WOW!!! Thank you so much, that's fantastic advice!
In fairness, the challenge isn't yet set in stone, but its one that I now desperately want to do. It started a few weeks ago during a pissed up pub bet and has kind of spiralled a 'bit'!!
I will make sure I keep track of tht site (and this post!) while I'm planning and, if you don't mind, give you a shout a bit later in the game?
Cheers!
Yeah, if you do decide to go ahead with it feel free to give me a shout and I'll offer you any advice that I can.In fairness, the challenge isn't yet set in stone, but its one that I now desperately want to do. One thought I did have is that if you wanted to get a bit of experience in something like this you should check out the Celtic Challenge. It's a rowing race from Arklow to Aberystwyth that takes place every two years. You would need to find a team, and it would obviously be a different type of boat (no sliding seats, not equipped for sleeping, much lighter etc.), but it would give you an idea of if you're cut out for rowing on open water. The last one was last year so they are probably going to run it again in 2014. I see that you live in Southampton, I'm sure that there will be a coastal rowing club quite local to you. You should get down there and see if any of them are interested in putting a team together.
Their website is probably worse than mine, but here you go: www.celtic-challenge.org.uk. There contact details are on the bottom of the page if you want to find out if they're running one in 2014.
I would have broken a record a couple of weeks ago had I been just over 2kgs lighter.
I didn't know anything about the records or weight classes, hence me turning up heavier than I normally would.
It's strength related and i'm not willing to say any more until I attempt it again in a few months.

I thought I must be close to the world record when I flipped and caught 32 beer mats in one smooth but fast movement.I was drunk at the time which made it even more impressive, and it was in front of witnesses, some of whom were not drunk.
Then I found out the record is 127 or something so I thought f
k it.
I did 34 a few weeks ago in the local pub, which I thought was damned impressive. My wife then did 37 and my 9 year old son beat us all on 39 Then I found out the record is 127 or something so I thought f
k it.
