I think everything is OK, if you're not happy on here you can jolly well not bother logging on.
Pretty much my thoughts too. It's OK. It's not a GREAT forum, but it amuses, informs and annoys in equal measure. Sometimes the moderation could be better, sometimes it is spot-on, sometimes it is a bit heavy-handed. Some posters take the time to help other PH'ers out, some posters wouldn't be missed if they accidentally shot themselves in the face. PH is still the first forum I log onto when I have time to surf for pleasure.

Save up !! After 2 months you'll have enough for a 1.4 Mk3 astra merit hatch with dents. Depreciation will be zero. Parts will cost nothing, and servicing could be done in 10 mins for the price of 1/2 a tank of unleaded. Meanwhile Save up !! After 5 years You'll have saved enough for an 8 year old Honda accord.
I can't understand why more people don't adopt my approach to spending.
a) Don't
b) If you have to, spend as little as possible.
c) Never commit to anything that you can't cancel.
On the other hand if you can afford it, do what the hell you want.

It's stuff we were taught between the ages of 5 and 11.
I, genuinely, think some people should start paying the government back if they waste their 'free' 11 year education. It's stuff we were taught between the ages of 5 and 11.
Getting all sniffy about it only makes someone feel more uncomfortable about their failings.
This does not apply to intentional laziness though, but then you should give people the benefit of the doubt shouldn't you?
Sadly, it's the superior attitude shining through.

Do you not accept though that by picking someone up on a spelling or grammatical error that does not automatically mean the person who posts the correction is in some way superior or inferior?
You could have:
Person A: I think I need my breaks fixed.
Person B: In this context it is 'brakes'
Person A: You are an a
hole!
or

Person A: Why thank you sir, you are indeed correct, I shall try my best to avoid making that minor error again in the future!

I couldn't agree more- everyone can always learn, but we know that- realistically- the tone is not one of assistance, it's one of derision, hence my comment above. You could have:

Trouble is, in scenario B, the person who has corrected will generally come back with a "should have paid more attention at school" remark or something equally unpleasant.Dusty964 said:

They may see it as on a par with people who correct other people for using the expression 'lol'.
