Definitive proof indeed. My hair cut stood up on end just reading that.

Luckily, it's not open to the public, so further sittings are unlikely- can't have ghosts walking around making people fall off ladders- imagine the confusion if he died- disheveled Roman soldier ghosts.....and the guy falling. Or would he simply hang in the air?

I don't think it was cited as proof. I think that the intention was to show that not all reports of this sort of activity are of beings from the last five hundred years, give or take.
