When did Schwantz have the best bike ?
He competed against some of the very best ever and dazzled, in his day, on a largely uncompetitive bike.
Dani has had the best bike, the best ride in MOTOGP for years and has won F...All.
He has been continually spoiled with the best bikes, winning in smaller classes partly due to his microscopic size, but clearly cannot hack the heat of the fight on the bigger bikes, even when they reduced the size to 800 for him. Just now he got soundly beaten by a Rookie teammate in only his second race, as is so often the case, he gave up the fight.
Likewise, Puig was spoiled, had massive budget advantages compared to his contemporaries in the feeder classes, like Dani, he is someone I have little respect for, his Passport got him a better ride than he deserved, he did not do very much with it.
Complete opposites IMO. Puig is lucky Repsol continue to bankroll him and Honda supply him the best bikes out there.

Schwantz is just the Robbie Savage of bike racing and saying it how he see's and believes it whether right or wrong in anyone elses eye.
So many great riders who for one reason or another didn't win the title. It's life and not everyone can be a winner at the top of their game. Dani still has a chance albeit one that appears to be diminishing.
