they will hide behind the T+Cs and unless the OP is sending a truck full a day they really won't be bothered at the threat of loss of custom.

I find that, in these situations, it helps to turn on the charm. If that doesn't work then being a good negotiator helps

I have asked them for proof as it could have been a human error.
The service was UPS I believe (24 hour service).
If it was the Interparcel Economy or Standard then it would be UPS, the full price for a pkg the size you mentioned is around £40 so their "surcharge" is waaay off. If you sent it Interparcel Premium then yes their price would be close, as the full UPS price is just over £115

I think it was just the standard one, was the cheapest so highly unlikely the premium.
I will give them a call tomorrow morning and see what they say, if they are sticking to their guns and trying to charge me £200+ then I will give citizens advice a call as surely I can not be made to pay this much for two parcels.

Thanks for the advice.

you signed the contract - i think you will find you can be made to pay ... especially as it;s not generally an automatic process to deal with these kinds of conformance issues

lightweight , just think what the guys who send 10 -15 full 45 footers day get ... (e.g. RS , screwfix ... )
Granted we're not in their league... but in terms of SME courier accounts, ours is pretty healthy.

perhaps it;s also the model the railway uses - get on the 'wrong train' or get on at a staffed station without a ticket - the guard can only sell you 'standard, open, walk- up fare'...
