Saw an Austin Healey 3000 parked in Newport Essex yesterday which had a lovely patina of being used with faded paint, bird crap on it and string holding the exhaust on at the back. Looked how it must have looked in 1970.
I did take picture of it but can't find the lead to upload it to my computer.

Spotted Friday 17/05/2013 in Booths Supermarket car park in Kendal Cumbria. Very Impressed. Jag Power (XKR)

Is it really Jag underpinnings or is it possibly the Daimler 2.5 V8 ?
Daimler actually built a prototype new saloon based on a PA Cresta body, but suitably Daimlerised.
It never happened, but there are pictures in the book "Daimler SP250 V8" by Brian Long. They crushed it. There was a recreation of that car made by a Daimler club member.
However this looks more like a custom car than the Daimler version

The owner lives up near Bolton but has friends nearby - it is very scruffy and only has the tonneau on if it is the one. I didn't get the reg when we spoke - he got us into trouble by leaving the pump mid fill in the Healey and coming over to chat
Sounds like the one, there was no hood or tonneau on it yesterday. Great to see cars like that used as dailys.

This Golf GLS parked up at work a couple of days ago, 2 years worth of restoring according to the owner.

I just love it that someone puts this much care and attention into what was in its time a pretty mundane car - you'd expect it to be a GTi having all that TLC lavished on it - but a GLS?
I had a good chat with the owner and he was totally into getting it right for the period. Top man!

A DB5 convertible passed me at sunset going the other way on the coast road with the top down. In Navy blue, looked nice BUT with nasty, cheap chrome 'wing mirrors' mounted high on the windscreen frame. Not a good look.
The mirrors are almost certainly the clamp-on type that the owner would remove when the car is on show.Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
