I had a 1600 capri in a similar colour (its in my profile) I thought it looked good, but no-one else did !
I do. I like your black 2.0S more though. Just a shame it isn't a 3.0.

This was quite fun......

Also very useable, as it started first time, was quite rapid and did up to 30mpg.
Sadly had to sell it on - too many classics on the drive.
dont know how old this topic is but just had to say i now own that car, been told it was featured in one of the ford magazines and trying to find it lol

Still one of the best looking cars ever made; and years ahead of its time.

Thread resurrection! Sorry, couldn’t find another relevant thread that is active,
Spotted this in Sorrento a few years ago but didn’t have the photo saved (taken on old work phone) but it came up today on my FB memories. Probably only suitable for in town pootling, wouldn’t want to go much quicker than 30mph in it.

Ye gods - what is scary is that I still have my V8 Sprite...and it still comes out in the sun once in a while!

It is alongside my other Modified Classic - Well that one has a tuned 1098cc A series, wider alloys (4 1/2" wide!) and used to have a metalflake paint job. I bought it in 1970.

My first motor was a 1959 Frog that I restored whilst still at school in the late ‘80s (a posh one, down the A47!). I’d sometimes see you in your metalflake monster and wave, Phil. (I knew who you were! You’d taught my best mate at City Boys.)

This is a bit lame compared to the madness that's gone before on this thread, but it's a nice invisible mod on an otherwise standard car. This wasn't planned, but the car in question had a noisy input shaft bearing when bought and it became apparent there may be driveability and performance gains to be had by going ahead.

Purpose built 6 speed.

Larger driveshafts from the later model.

The only visible giveaway.

[The car in question.

The ratios are all a bit closer than with the standard 5 speed, and the theoretical top speed is now 144mph. It may be some time before I verify this as factual, given that the car resembles a leaf in a hurricane at an indicated 125, but I'm sure that with familiarity will come bravery! laugh

Do what we did and go to one of the old runways such as Bruntingthorpe if they still allow it. We set up a radar trap towards the end of the old runway and clocked our maximum speeds. I managed 165 but once was quite enough!

I think Bruntingthorpe might be where they've leased it out to Carwow/Cinch/one of the other toilet merchants to store their crap on, bit like Rockingham. Shame really used to be great for a cheap muck about and was handy for the high speed runway stuff or even the smaller 'handling circuit'.

Having checked Google Maps view this is indeed the case - Handling Circuit is interestingly clear, though no doubt some 'Elf & Safety bods would ban it from being used for some reason or other..

Agree re the town pootling. Mrs L and I went to Sorrento a few years ago - there are a lot of narrow streets, and every car had some bump or scrape , except for the two original Fiat 500s we saw.

That's brilliant! I have fond memories of my own mk1 MR2 - sadly wrapped it around a lamppost in the wet....idiot.

Thanks, I've spent what I paid for the car getting it the way I want it, but I'm delighted with it and don't begrudge it a penny. The 6 speed was £1500 fitted inc. a new clutch, and it's not quite as sweet a change as the 5 speed, but on balance the benefits outweigh the cons.

No more car events (or aviation ones) at Brunty since Cox have taken over the lease of the site. The runway is now full of cars.
