Seemed like a really tough stage yesterday. These riders are certainly made of stern stuff - it looked freezing on the top of the last climb.

Nibali still looks supers strong, Evans did well too but looked like he had suffered a lot yesterday.

However, the man of the day had to be Visconti. Epic stage win and he was truly spent when he crossed the line!!

Stage 16 was superb, plenty of attacks and some tricky descents smile

Very hard to see past nibali, he just looks so comfortable. He's not had a stage win yet though and I am sure he is keen to get one soon.

Nice effort of Sanchez yesterday too, he's still pretty good on bike handling skills!

I think Nibali will take the next (uphill) time trial tomorrow, but he's going to want a road stage also.

Sanchez didn't get away though, did he? Though the cameras weren't on them, Scarponi and Nibali kept him tagged.

^^ not really but good to see him fly down those Mountains, he did put in a few attacks but was reeled back in.

I was mighty impressed with Nibali on the descents, he came across to Sanchez on the way down - epic bravery and bike control. He almost took his skin off his arm on one of the walls!!

Just wish I could ride like that smile

slightly off topic but Menchov has announced his retirement today blaming dodgy knees, the secret pro in cycling tips website has suggested that a pro rider may have recently failed a bio passport test and be on their way out so the timing of Menchov's annoucement is being viewed as suspicious...

I dont think Nibbles will win the TT tomorrow, its only 20kms and I think it averages 6% so its more TT than a climb whereas Nibbles seems to prefer short and steep climbs to launch attacks. I'd say he will seek to limit losses but remian in pink as Evans wont take more than 2s per km or thereabouts.

Looking forwards to two summit finishes on Friday and Saturday with the Stelvio in the middle of thursday stage...

Menchov: good riddance.

TT tomorrow: I'm going for Evans or someone like Scarponi.

yes Just caught the beginning of the tour of belgium too where some poor sod's bottle jumped out the cage (on cobbles, in a straight line, at speed) and into his back wheel, locking it and sending him flying - bet he couldn't do that again if he tried hehe

Looking forward to tomorrow's TT (weather looks really crap for tomorrow and Saturday with definite disruption forecast). Nibali's definitely the one to beat tomorrow - head and shoulders above everyone else - has shown total class throughout the race. Will be interesting to see what Cuddles can do seeing as he won't have a wheel to follow. Scarponi will definitely be in the mix. Shame the weather has played such a major part in the race, however I think even if the weather had been perfect Nibali still would have been the man to beat.

Nibali is the big favourite for today's TT and is clearly the one to beat. Is there any hope for Dowsett in such a TT? Also, Gesink, though perhaps not in the greatest form he's ever been in, will want to put in a good performance here - he's a very capable time-trialist, and not just on the flat stuff.

No.

Nibali should romp this you would think. Be interesting to see how close anyone can get to him. Evans probably only needs to take 30 seconds or so out of Nibali to at least set him thinking.

Not a bad shout - Rabobank haven't won a stage yet.
