The cars are way ahead of anything else. Just need to find a good dealer, I highly recommend R.Sport in Wimbledon - they support a lot of the Clio Cup racers and both their work and attention to detail is impeccable.

Not any more.

The new Clio RS is losing comparison tests left, right and centre. Beaten by the Fiesta ST and 208 GTI.

The Fiesta ST is even quicker round a track and 2 grand cheaper. laugh

The Clio RS is now starting to look like a bit of a failure.

Go and buy an ST then and stop trolling every Renaultsport thread with your issues.

The Clio 200 NA is without competiton, the new one is entirely different and not the subject of this thread. HTH biggrin

The Clio 200 NA is without competition? biggrin

Another Clio 200 owner with the Rose-tinted specs on.

I appreciate your ownership pride though.

Technomatt, I don't think I've actually read a post of yours where you haven't bought up the Clio 200....bad experience with one?

Nope, just a few pages of interesting experiences re-focusing a few owners and Renault employees on some realities regarding ownership issues.

This forum isn’t just one of those obsequious playgrounds for constant owner group hugs and inferiority complex boosting ownership pride some are used to.

Fortunately, it's a bit more eclectic and that really winds a few up. They just can't Twig it. biggrin

It’s now obvious GrumpyTwig doesn’t want to put his case as to why gearboxes are modified from 2010 because as he knows, there really isn’t one biggrin

Summarising the truth and why there is no modification:

• Clio 200 gearboxes have exactly the same parts and part numbers as 197 gearboxes
• A stripped gearbox has revealed no modifications to components from a 197 to 200
• Renault have never officially declared a modification
• Key employees in the Renault organisation have not confirmed any modification exists
• An owner has had a 2012 fitted failed gearbox. (negates any +2010 mod claim)
• Several owners have had more than one gearbox fitted, the record being 4

Of course, you can always put your faith in a completely unsubstantiated owner’s personal belief. You decide.
I note you've still not referenced to the source of this person having 4 boxes as well and now some 'key renault employees' have emerged, source? Again I refuse to retype my views on the actual issue just because you have a poor memory and are too lazy to read back.

All your key points prove little other than an ability to grasp at cherry picked references. Some of which prove little, for example an early gearbox was stripped but the only comparison was parts numbers not the physical boxes themselves.

You request information and proof from others yet site none of your own making your own unfounded statement, the only real facts you've supplied are an image of a owners forum poll.

Just another opinion from 172rs it seems.

I would just like to confirm that my 200 is on its orginal gear box, and seems fine no crunching or grinding. So out of the 3 Clio's i have owned that makes 100% of none gearbox replacements.

Sounds like it's your turn for a 'grinder' then.

I would also just like to confirm a 2 year old Clio 200 has just reported another gearbox failure.

Firstly, If you have a 200, you can make a comment based on your experience. If you don't either have one or have not previously owned one then you cannot comment with any credibility.

Second point. I bought mine new in 2010. I have not had a gearbox problem after 21,000 miles. The car has the optional Cup chassis which indeed gives it a very hard ride but I'm not a limp-wristed namby-pamby and can live with it because when on track or on a hoon, the car is amazing.

On a track day at Brands Hatch, the only car I couldn't overtake was a Megan 225. My car was faster than a Lotus Elise, 2 x Cooper S, a clutch of Max Power type Jap cars, Ford Focus ST, Fiesta ST, a 1990 Carerra, an air cooled 911, Clio 182, and a couple of BMW's plus some Alfa's etc

I'm not saying its the best car in the world because its no way near, but in pretty much every group test its had, it trounces the field in its class.

And if your brakes wernt binding I'm sure you could have also seen off a few Radicals, GT3 RSs and the odd Nissan GTR.
