I need the control cables, the levers and the gubbings that sit behind the dash for my 400SE. The heater fell to bits years ago and I didnt actually twig why I was finding the odd nut or bolt until one day nothing worked.

Anyone know what these were off as I would love heat without having to go under the bonnet to adjust the flow control manually

Hi Jason

Most of it was TVR made out of bits.

The early cars did use some Ford and BL parts, but again these were adapted by TVR.

Which parts do you need? Pics of what you have left will give me an idea!

I have some bit from both systems so may be able to help!

Well not too difficult you only need a hacksaw, file, drill and bits.I tried not too copy the crappy plastic ones for shape but in the end i did as they worked better. i also moved mine forwards so they stuck out of the dash a bit more. basically the chim ones are exaclty the same diameter as the originals and even the mounting hole is the same, so the only fabrication is on how to attach the control rods and that is easy really. took me about a day to do but there was a lot of trial and error involved but worth doing.

Andy I have a dash with 2 slots, and a control cable connected to the push/pull valve under the bonnet.
That is it !!!!

For the life of me I have no idea where the bits went to

Jason

Were the controls in the slots wheels or levers?

I can help with the levers deffanatly, and I may also have a set of the later wheel system.

I will sort out what I have so should be able to help!

Mine has 2x slots ..iirc for the levers.

Going to pull the Center dash out just to double check that there isn't anything behind there.
Also might upgrade the standard cassette radio if I can find something I like

Mate, Beer Tokens ready !!! ... I have new control cables (they've been in the boot for about 10 years !!)

Im guessing, judging by the 2 empty holes in dash that im going to need the complete lot,

I meant to have a chat to Neil Perry on Tuesday when I was at TVRS SW, but forgot all about it. Neil did tell me that the mount itself was a TVR special and not borrowed from another manufacturer

Hi Jason

Are these the bits you are missing?

These ones have the cables cut, but I have a complete one new old stock if that will help!

They look familiar .. Im assuming from the picture they are standing up on end ... as my slots are horizontal. I have the control cables (they have been in the boot for years)

How much do you want for them matey ?

I wonder if anybody has come up with a complete housing, with or without new heater controls. Mine (1987 280i US Spec) has pretty much the same cheap junk and this is the right time for me to do it right.

Wilf.
Wilf - Someone had their HVAC apart and posted or email me the dimensions. The hole is big enough for a Vintage Air small sized unit. And IIRC, Marshall put a VA unit in his 'barn find'. I think will be the best/only way to beat the southern US heat. On my 'to do' list. Grady
