Just look at the parts list for the Evora 'S'. The same flywheel has been used since its conception.

It's a fairly big issue when you are trying to compare the difference between a 2011 and a 2012 car. After reading the evo link above i was thinking that a 2012 car was the only way to go. More responsive revs, better gear change at higher revs etc, Now I'm not so sure. As far as I can see the main changes are door seals and mechanism, engine mounts, gear cables and lots of interior upgrades.

If you are not that bothered about the interior and can live with sound of the door closing as well as getting the cables replaced under warranty then im asking myself, is it really worth increasing my budget to get a 2012 car?

IMO the best thing to improve the gearchange is double de clutch and heel and toe.

Talking the a friend at work who came from Lotus he thinks the 2012 MY car is a lot better. Personally I could not afford it and got MY11 and absolutely love it..

If you get the MY12 gear cables fitted under warranty then the only reasons to buy one are the extra noise and the interior, which to be fair is a nicer place to sit and has better refinement.

Some MY11 cars' gearshifts (those that return to centre by themselves) can even be vastly improved just by getting the adjustment right.

I have yet to drive one where double declutching was necessary, only a bit of patience when they're hot.

Again, the patience thing when they are hot is due to the clutch slave cylinder getting hot and I experienced on a track day....this part is soon going to be replaced under warranty on my 2011 S car. On the road it has never been an issue.
My local dealer advised me it was available under warranty. I guess they want the work because they will charge Lotus, and I am more than happy to have it changed under warranty!

Gutted!!!

I was roughly 5 minutes away from owning a great sounding Evora S this afternoon. The dealer is 4 hours from me and I hadn't seen the physical car but I was ready to do a deal over the phone.

MY 2012
Red
Manual
black leather with red piping
19/20" design wheels in black
all the packs with rev camera and folding mirrors
Under 10,000 miles
Advertised at £47,995.

Just about to talk money and the bombshell dropped............

......It's red but not as we know it!

"Velvet Red!"

Im sure others out there may love it but its Just not my cup of tea I'm afraid.

absolutely gutted!

If you dont know what velvet red looks like, See the following link. This isn't the exact car but it is the same colour:

I'd call that Claret

Would look nice on an 80's Rolls but not an Evora

Must admit, not my taste either. How easy is it to find the spec you want? If the price reflects the unusual colour it could be worth a punt. What's the cost of decent respray these days probably not too much given the minimal body size and the way it comes apart?

I can't see a decent respray costing less than £2 -3k and to do properly you would need to remove screem etc.

Velvet is quite nice in the flesh, although not with the ardent red brake calipers.

Aquired taste for sure

Thanks for the heads up but Autumn bronze is also a colour which is not really one I would consider if I'm honest.

Just picked up my MY13 Evora S in Aspen White with Paprika interior, having traded up from my Boxster S. The car definatley draws a crowd and is fantastic compared to the Boxster. i am glad i went for it rather than the 911 GTS that i was originally looking at. Way more involving to drive and the handling down twisty B roads is phenomonal.

All ears for any information you can give on your new SR. Followed one down the A11 on Saturday (also in white) and it looked fantastic.
