TBH, I'm not sure, looks like 600 x 400 or 450. The ducting kind of obscures where the top really is.
Funny you should say that as mine is only 550mm x 300mm with 70mm core..... Makes your last few posts interesting!

I'll need to have a closer look this weekend if he's up at the hill. The front of the corsa makes that look positively Scania-scale!

During the head removal I noticed the cometic had been blowing slightly between cylinders frown It never had any running issues, on the first build the block was decked and head skimmed... I wont be using another cometic tho.... I'm not the first to suffer from this but i guess it was due to lack off the block being decked but apprently not!

On Sunday I dropped block off to have its bore enlargered to 87mm, decked, Head worked like above etc...

Who said you can't put engines in corsa's...

Cheer, glad you enjoyed the read.. There is some bad TV on at present!

Its been awhile so I can't even rememeber... From what I rememeber I turn into a giggling school kid

First job was to check the piston ring end gaps

Built up the arrow rods and omega pistons smile then fitted

All built up and fitted in place

I have changed to multi ribbed belt setup this year, bought this cheap...

Change of tyres to Toyo R888, may only use these up and go for AD08's

All built up as far as I can go until head here, shafts in etc

Well a few people know Ive been having problems with the HKS headgasket Monty has, Ben also has had issues with his!! Cars been running fine but i noticed the coolant level dropping everytime i drove him, pressure tested no external leaks. Checked catch tank full of coolant.... Thats never good! Dropped the oil out as I was still on mineral oil covered about 400 miles, coolant came out but not a massive amount. Also noticed oil leaking from headgasket under the cam sensor, no oil coming from any higher which was annoying.. Head off time frown

With head off it was confirmed he wasn't burning oil, not cracks. The head was skimmed and block decked before building.. Only place it could leak from was here and water passing to the block breathing.

Both mine and Bens have now got 2 holes in the water ways, Bens was drilled by supplying company and mine was drilled by SBS in slightly different place but both have failed never the less, mine less than Bens though

Bens gasket

New gasket ontop old gasket

Bens Old gasket which never failed compared to new gasket holes marked on

Both mine and Bens new gaskets were part of a new batch of head gaskets. We are waiting to hear back from supplying company as they advised the 2 holes.... With Bens 1 hole he never had any issues

Time to rebuild using a cometic as there is clearly an issue with the HKS gasket there wasn't before. Not happy about it but needs must as its being mapped on Friday. Drained all coolant from block

Had abit of nightmare snapped bolt in manifold frown marked the manifold GRR which isn't as white anymore.. But fair play to SBS I met him Monday morning at 8am to collect headgasket and inlet manifold gasket, drill my manifold so i could crack on building him back up. We Measure head all ok...

Have done 25 miles of cheap semi synth oil as I'm not putting millers in until im happy, dropped the oil no coolant so thats a plus, also gives it a flush

All back together

Crap weather at present so spent time cleaning catch tank out, fingers crossed will do some miles tomorrow as mapping is on Friday smile

Just doing a mini update on this one for Dale, who I'm sure will be along to provide more detail.
Car was mapped on the 31st and is now chucking out 552bhp at the fly (about 500 at the wheels. It then promptly lunched the gearbox on the 1st banghead
So new gearbox has gone in and all is working well.
We were at PVS at Santa Pod yesterday. The video below shows how he got on. Just bear in mind the times are done on treaded tyres and the car actually weighs more than standard due the upgrades and not being stripped out. It's also running over twice the power compared to the last time Dale had it on a 1/4 so took a bit of getting used to. Just need to lower the 60ft time.
Onwards and upwards from here biggrin
