For the comedy value alone, Strax moves to Glasgow and ends up exchanging insults and punches with a Glaswegian. I loved that bit.
Armed with a shovel. Brilliant. I hope he comes back.
The "you ridiculous reptile" bit had me tittering like a schoolgirl.

Strax is absolutely brilliant. One of the best characters to have ever graced our screens in many years.

And the fact he thinks the ladies are boys. Love it.

I tried getting back into Doctor Who, but I found the background music to be so loud and obtrusive that it actually rendered the programme unwatchable.

Shame, because the last two assistants have been emminently watchable.

Funny you should say that, I have trouble hearing the dialogue at times because the background music is too loud.

Strax's field report - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYWghABqh3w

Nothing other than he says "this one has the look of a battled hardened warrior". So Time War Dr?

Interesting theory from a youtube user comment from this spoiler video of the episode

My personal theory backed up by nothing is this: 8 fought in the time war, was killed and regenerated into this guy. He's the one who used the moment to end the war, thus killing untold billions or trillions. The Doctor, means healer. He didn't heal, he destroyed. It had to be done or else the Time Lord's were going to initiate the final sanction.

I disagree, the music is brilliant and adds much more drama and tension to the programme.

Until it drowns out the speech. Personally I would rather hear what is being said.

Yes, I don't mind the music, it is just too loud when the characters are in dialogue most of the time.

And yet I don't have problems hearing what is being said.

I think I just tune out (for want of a better word) the music

As well as the music everyone on Dr Who talks at light-speed. With modern TV and films I've started using subtitles, I pick up on so many more details that I would miss otherwise.
Yes we started using subtitles due the speed of it all!!

It could be that it's mixed for surround sound these days, and some tvs reduce the sound to mush. Sounds fine on our system.

I think the Dr Who people are getting a bit carried away with it being a "cinema experience" when most of us just have normal tellies and hearing that's a bit the worse for listening to loud engines.

THE Village star John Simm says he is fed up with the attention he gets from Doctor Who fans.

“They’re lovely, I’m sure, but I won’t miss it. It’s great to be into something but for goodness’ sake, really? I’m not The Master, I’m not that evil Time Lord who rules the galaxy, I’m just in Tesco with my kids. Leave me alone!”
hehe
He's denying it all now...

I thought he was ok as the Master, and terrific in Life on Mars - I want that jacket!
Bit over the top performance as The Master I thought. I did like that brief turn by Derek Jacobi. Nobody can touch Roger Delgado though.

I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes. Wouldn't mind a proper film with John Hurt kicking ass in the time war.
