This whole thing is costing me a decent amount of money with all of the supplements however he's got a very strong and proven track record so I'm going to do exactly what he tells me and see how it works out.
He's proven himself beyond a shadow of a doubt good at coaching others and I trust his knowledge and judgement (it's his full time job which he's qualified in).
The others are;
Pro vital (ouch)
ZMA
Glutamine
Maltodextrin
AKG
The diet is massively more expensive than my existing diet that was about £70 per week as well, I'm still trying to figure out how much more expensive
I actually don't mind any of this even though it is a decent chunk of cash for the training as I want it and I want to achieve the best shape of my life this year. Because I'm driven to achieve something, I am willing to do it.
I will post pics so you can see how I'm doing and now its just down to me being strict, working extremely hard and being consistent. Once you see how far I get you can make your own judgement about it all, however far I get or don't get I will post it up!

If you were closer, I'd genuinely ask you to a couple weeks of strongman training with me to see if you notice any difference in size/definition and to also see how well your anaerobic (capacity?) is He's proven himself beyond a shadow of a doubt good at coaching others and I trust his knowledge and judgement (it's his full time job which he's qualified in).

I used to train around some strongmen in my last gym and have seen how they train quite differently.

Have you noticed much of a difference now your taking those supps Lee ? Or is it just a case of every little helps ?
The only thing I've really noticed at this point is the ZMA that has increased my ability to sleep. The other supplements I expect not to see anything but something gradual over time. The other supplements I forgot to mention are;
Creatine
Vitamin C
I know there's some other stuff but I can't remember. I will let you guys know how I get
While we're on protein powders, does anyone have a view on Egg Powder as an alternative to whey protein, for those who can't/don't take dairy/lactose?
I've looked at the MP offering: click, which appears to be all well and good, but according to my maths it comes out at ten bob per egg! I suspect they're not either omega 3 enriched or free range eggs at that either.
You can get very good, very large, free range duck eggs for less than that!

Glutamine ant maltodexs
t are a complete waste of money
Care to expand on that?

Maltodextrose is just carbs. Nobody needs to supplement carbs, they are in almost everything. If you must have "fast" carbs post-workout, eat some fruit or something, which is actually good for you.

I think the creatine thing is a little over done in people suggesting many different approaches and then arguing about the best. I'm just taking creatine tablets as recommended.
Also I do love to experiment with my own body to find what works best for me but to experiment properly for me means to throw yourself into it, follow the plan and give it everything you've got!
The diet is difficult with the amount of food in it but I don't care, I will just stick it out and keep going!

Good stuff! I suffer shin splints too from my military days of running on concrete in boots with heavy packs on my back.
Some people don't get on with squatting so if you can't do it, don't worry too much about it, just adjust and do other exercises. I know some competing folk who don't do one of the 3 major lifts because it doesn't suit them for instance.
Let us know how you get on with the physio!
Lee
4th physio in 12 months tonight and I guess you get what you pay for. Within 5 minutes he had wiggled my ankle around, shoved his thumb where I said the pain has been for 15 months and immediately asked if I had health insurance ( which I don't). On the inside of my ankle there is either bone hitting bone or bone grinding against flapping about cartilage. Need an MRI and then he says they will likely have to open it up, have a look with a camera and either tidy it up or have a proper operation depending on how difficult the area is to get to and how messed up it is. He said any physio with little experience will just tell you it is a range of motion issue (which the other 3 did) and to work on it with wobble board exercises and stretching. I've been doing that for months. Turns out that was the worst possible thing to do as it would just cause an inflammatory response and achieve nothing.
But he didn't think that was the sole reason for my knee pain. Apparently my hips are tilted and twisted to the right meaning any motion like squats is just going to put me in a very bad position and cause the issues I've been experiencing. He had me do a test for tightness in the hips and I failed miserably on the left side but after a 5 minute exercise he retested it and it just sunk down to where it should do. Apparently it is a piece of piss to correct if you put a bit of work in

All the best,

t, sorry to hear about your ankle, hope you can get it sorted now someone is looking at it appropriately.
Out of interest, what was the hip mobility stuff he got you to do? I was shown one move where you sit on a chair one foot on the floor with that leg bent 90 degrees. Place ankleof other leg on knee, and lean forward. Apparently it stretches out the upper glute, which few other stretches do, and helps the hip...

It's hard to explain and even harder to do properly. I needed him to keep correcting me and even then I couldn't get my brain to do what I wanted it to. It was more for realigning the hips but he is going to send me it on a PDF so I'll email it to you once I've got it. But if your hips are neutral then it would be pointless for you. You're best off just going for a one off session with a good physio just for a posture analysis rather than trying to figure things out for yourself as it is nigh on impossible and more likely to make things worse

Booked in this Friday.
Shoulder and hips - got plenty of stability in knees and lower back, but feck all mobility where it counts.
Only problem is she apparently has a penchant for sticking needles in you. Some new fangled bro science called acupuncture. Not sure if I like the sound of that!
