Being a relatively new tiv owner, I do enjoy bimbling through London town having been for a blat elsewhere. Quite a common experience is for what I assume are tourists to clock the car as I am in heavy, slow-moving traffic. You can tell they are confused, trying to work out what the car is, when they catch up whilst at a standstill they peer at the bonnet trying to make out the TVR logo.

I love my Griff. I predict that this will be my favourite car I ever own! smile

I remember getting asked once 'who makes TVR'?

One of the great pleasures for me is seeing others enjoy the car too. Chats with strangers at petrol stations, nods from bikers and drivers of other interesting stuff, cyclists at lights saying 'go on then, let's hear it', kids going 'dad, dad, did you see that' and getting as excited as a kid at Christmas when you see and acknowledge another Tiv.

I get as many, if not more looks/thumb ups in the BMW as the TVR. The BMW is the only one people have come across to me to talk about when parked up. I think I'm doing this wrong getmecoat Just had the exhaust on the TVR reworked, so hopefully be turning a few more heads. The BMW is one of the most reserved v8's out there sound wise, and that's the way it's staying too. I don't want to annoy the neighbours too much. There patience may wear a bit thin, they all love the V8s though, think I'm lucky on that front too.

Following a mk1 e-type last week, pulled up at some lights behind it. There were a load of chaps waiting to cross. They shouted " nice car mate....but we would rather have that TVR behind you". I was grinning all day long. The E type owner looked a little peeved as I suspect this was the one and only time the car had been out all year. gave the guys at the lights the full beans as I drove off clap

One of my first outings in the Tuscan led to me parking in a street in Windsor for a few minutes. When I returned, the car was surrounded by a large group of Japanese students getting themselves photographed next to it.

Let's be fair though you don't exactly drive a silver 320d now do you.

Nice eight.

A ride through London is my standard 'topping up the battery' run. Along the A4 at night, roof off if weather permits, through the tunnel, then in all the back streets. A fine way to spend £20.

Thanks, the Eight does make my commute far more enjoyable than it has any right too. Don't think I could handle 20k a year in the V8s at stupid times of the day trundling round the M25. It would just be a waste. Probalbly should have bought a 320d ed touring for the commute though, but I would have to hand back my PH card, can't stand diesels!

Fuelling up is where the car tends to get the most attention. Most of the time it makes my day but occasionally when I just want to get out, fuel up and drive off, it can be a little intrusive. I do remember a very polite man coming up a few weeks ago, shouted "Excuse me!" as I was heading inside to pay, and said "Would you mind if I take some photos of your car?" The public absolutely love TVRs, and can we blame them.

I had great reactions to my Tuscan. People coming up to look at it in filling stations, bikers giving me thumbs up and having overtaking each other for giggles down a dual carraigeway. The car driver behind taking pictures whilst stuck in a queue.

Best one has to be 2 young attractive girls walking past the drive, spotting the car and deciding to get photos of themselves beside it. Just walked up and snapped away.

How I miss that car.

I've had a mix of both. Admirers and boy racer idiots.

Yesterday, (for the hour it was working) I had a pleb in a 1.2 Corsa up my @rse. Moved over to let him past, still up my arse, before making a big deal about going past me. By the time we got to the single track B road, he was behind me again, driving about two foot from my back bumper at 50mph lunging at the back of the car. The look on his face when I dropped it into third and floored it, overtaking the five vehicles in front was a sketch. All I could see was his car constantly edging out behind the line of cars desperately trying to get past. Half an hour later the PAS hose had gone and I was in Sainsbury's car park in Deal awaiting the low loader. One bloke stopped to help and another who lived nearby appeared with a bag of spanners to see if he could help as well. I've had loads of people stop whilst I've been working on it on the drive.

There is something special about a TVR, which is why I have always wanted one. I could have got a Boxter for less... but nothing looks and sounds like a TVR!

I have noticed something odd with the Cerbera compared to my Griff or Chim - the amount of women that look and then whisper to their other halves 'What car's that?' It was always a bloke thing in the other two, women never gave them a second glance. Of course it could be my receding grey hairline thats attacting them (err perhaps not!)

Most memorable comment for me, was when leaving Silverstone camping in the Tuscan. Small boy to dad " Dad dad! that cars sooOOooo much nicer than ours! " Hmph! probably blow up before it gets out of here was the disgruntled reply. Well 570 miles later it never missed a beat.

Odd that. I recall getting punched by the better half when we were out in the Chim just because of a lingering look and smile from a lady in a car alongside, and have had more than one young lady make comments like "nice car, can you give me a lift?".

Oops, I'm probably going to get another smack for that.
