Without fog lights you'd fail an MOT so they are pretty important. Ive been driving 2 years and even ive used them more than 2 or 3 times.
maybe you shouldn't have wink
Maybe he's been in thick fog with no one behind him more times than you have.
maybe

also, I've driven cars and ridden motorbikes with valid MoTs and no foglight

Hmmm. Vitesse was rated at 190 although rumour has it that most were nearer to the standard FI number of 155.

Not required on vehicles first used before April 1980 or on vehicles with a daytime only MOT

That's just because all motorbikes since about the stone age effectively have DRLs and everyone knows if you have DRLs then you don't need fog lights.

Probably won't be far off to be honest. From actual experience:

2006 Focus ST 2500cc Turbo 225hp ~1320kg manual, around 22mpg day to day driving normally.
2006 Mustang GT 4600cc N/A 315hp ~1590kg slush box automatic, around 20mpg day to day driving normally.
From my experience

2 litre turbo 221bhp manual - 25mpg average
4.8 litre 361bhp automatic - 22mpg average
4.3 litre 380bhp manual - 15mpg average
Focus ST is a bad example - shockingly thirsty engine, BMW 3.0s were getting 260+bhp and 30+mpg even before it was launched.

Ditto Mitsi Evo's.

I would suggest you can find examples to prove and disprove this argument 5x over each way - helpl, 500bhp Astons can return mid-20s on a run!

i think in the old system (pre-2001) the first two letters of the last three related to location, and i believe that could be a yorks code. In new system first letter relates to location and P is Preston, but they cover such a wide area now that it's hard to tell where the car originated as such.

Maybe not, because the engines in both cars I used as an example (I have owned both for a long enough period of time) have been around in one guise or another for a fair few years now.

I do notice this more and more - it is young women who are most likely to pass me very close, "not see me" when coming out of junctions and beep me if they're held up because they can't pass.

Although having said that, this morning it was a white van who pulled out in front of me! biggrin

Good solid English V8, not like those American ones.

No, wait. Oh.
Actually, with the passing of time, bit like "Trigger's Broom".... everything changed.

Trigger's broom was still a broom though. Which is the point.
