This Golf GLS parked up at work a couple of days ago, 2 years worth of restoring according to the owner.

I just love it that someone puts this much care and attention into what was in its time a pretty mundane car - you'd expect it to be a GTi having all that TLC lavished on it - but a GLS?
I had a good chat with the owner and he was totally into getting it right for the period. Top man! thumbup
Zoiks, totally barmy, I don't know what perversion drives people to lovingly restore such mundanities. Bland then and bland now except somehow.. it's just nice that it's been preserved.

Just needs a bit of peanut butter on that front bumper.

Is that one of those it-shouldn't-work-but-it-does techniques to get black plastic black again?

Edit - just googled it...

Wow!

That's crazy, but I'm going to have to try it now!

Just buy peanut oil, then you won't have to wipe off so much gunge!

Would it work on Bakelite, might make the car a bit smelly but I think my dog would like it.

Thinks..................... idea smear it on, let dog lick it of hey presto clean plastics.

A bit late I know... but on Sunday, near Lyneham, saw what appeared to be a "Cream Cracker" MG. I was going the other way on the Bonnie at the time so had other things on which to concentrate - might have been a Riley or... anyone know?

Hey Loveoldclassics.. I am in Hastings next Tuesday/Weds/Thursday with a white MGB and a blue 2cv doing some filming, if you spot us say hello.
Whereabouts will you be in Hastings on Thursday afternoon.

I saw this old Vauxhall Astra in Battle to-day.

Did the driver by any chance have a white pointy hat that came over his head with a slit for eyes?

Just think when restoration time comes around in a few years time it'll be off to B&Q for the Ronseal, does what it says on the tin, seriously though that's just lovely and just that bit out of the ordinary.

Shame it's been so tarted up. I had a go in this one recently and it's wonderful!

Given that it's basically a new fibreglass body on a modern GM chassis and running gear I'm not sure how they got the DVLA to issue it an age-related plate.

The DVLA may not have done, the owner might have just bought an old plate.
