The Lambesis thing is somewhat surreal though. Couldn't care less about As I lay Dying but as you suggest; Austrian Death Machine definitely has its moments.
Wouldn't go and see As I Lay Dying if they were playing in my kitchen, as they're everything I dislike about modern metal, but still a bizarre story.
I tihnk they're a great band (as ar ADM), and can't say this news will stop me listening to them

Do nothing for me I'm afraid, just a load of self indulgent God bothering drivel all wrapped up in that contrived "vulnerable tough guy" image these bands seem to favour. Not my cup of tea. YMMV of course.

On the subject of lyrics, found this interesting in the context of a failing marriage and today's news...

Sometimes we have to watch our whole lives fall apart,
before we can rebuild them again - a greater foundation.

I wish there was another way, but no amount of devotion can fix this.
Triumph awaits!

As for still listening to them, Varg being a convicted murderer and all round nutjob hasn't stopped me listening to Burzum over the years. If anything, it makes him ever more enigmatic.

It's just inhuman! But just on the right side of extreme.

Had not heard of them before this thread.

If they were playing in my kitchen I'd ask them to stop that frightful racket and do something useful, like cleaning the oven or doing the washing up.

After what seems like forever, Age of Taurus finally have their album done and dusted. Sound has evolved from their (well, his, it was a solo project at the time) demo. Still doom, but maybe bit more classic metal in there to soften the edges?

Well I've spent all weekend listening to the new tesseract album called altered state and I can say without hesitation it is the album of the decade so far.im not exaggerating. It really is such and exquisitely written and produced album.its no good listening to a track or two at a time you need to allow yourself fifty minutes and give it your full attention from start to finish. I must have listened to it over a dozen times now and I am utterly transfixed.

Glad to see Baroness back on the road, especially so soon after the accident. Impressive stuff.

Recently got into a band called Torche, well worth a listen. Not the heaviest, but there are some nice sludgey-bits in there music.

Now I have to go as Tool have just started playing in my headphones.

Right....I've spent my hard earned on the album...and its a killer.
Production is the best I've heard in a long while, bass a bit of a wake up, and more importantly (to me as an ex drummer) awesome.

Highly recommended. Thanks Tuscaneer.

I pop on this thread once in a while and it throws up some crackers. Strapping Young Lad (the last for me in particular 'Aftermath' - Jesus that's IS everything I consider metal - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kHKo_lsvsM)

Keep it up.

So, it would seem I finally "get" The Black Dahlia Murder". Been listening to Ritual, and have to say I really, really enjoy it. Screams and growls sound entirely believable rather than the usual contrived nonsense, blazes away without ever drowning in speed for the sake of it and generally mixes things up nicely. Said elsewhere it actually feels a lot of an updated and faster Necroticism. Has those sort of twists and turns to it, but never vanishes up its own backside.

Talking of Carcass, tracklisting for Surgical Steel is online :-

'The Master Butcher’s Apron'
'The Granulating Dark Satanic Mills'
'A Congealed Clot Of Blood'
'A Wraith In The Apparatus'
'316l Grade Surgical Steel'
'Cadaver Pouch Conveyor System'
'Captive Bolt Pistol'
'Intensive Battery Brooding'
'None Compliance To Astm F899-12 Standard'
'Mount Of Execution'
'1985/Thrasher’s Abattoir'
'Unfit For Human Consumption'
'Zochrot'
'Livestock Marketplace'

Rather looking forward to hearing that lot smile
