First listen done and I am a little on the fence, while I liked it, it wasn't what I was expecting

Will have another listen

If you like Daft Punk of old, you should try out the Bloody Beetroots, great electro band.

Just downloaded Alive 1997. Banging 45 minute mix from the boys. Well worth 3.99. I've no idea why I didn't download this sooner.

Listened to it three times; I find if pretty boring. And I loved their early stuff.

Loving it so far, the track Giorgio by Moroder is brilliant.

It's pretty much Prog Disco IMO.

Much more 'easy listening' Daft Punk. Not so much repetitive periods, and a much more retro disco feel. I think it is superb.

I wouldn't want to be listening to the last song Contact whilst driving, if Queens 'Don't stop me now' adds 20 mph to your right foot, then Contact would see me red lining the damned thing in top.

Totally blown away by this album.

It has that something that makes you biggrin doesn't it. What a way to finish an album.

Been streaming this on Spotify this morning and I must admit I'm very disappointed.

Been a big Daft Punk fan for decades and thought they had lost their way since Human After All (which I thought was a very poor album). With the release of Get Lucky, things were looking up but it's quite clear to me that Get Lucky is probably the only track on the album that is worthy of a release. Everything is, whilst immaculately produced and musically very good, is either bland or just not going to be commercially successful.

I think people will buy the album based on Get Lucky, and be pretty disappointed when nothing else on the album is as uplifting and enjoyable to listen to.

R.A.M does have it's moments though... Doin It Right, Contact and Giorgio by Moroder are very good tracks. Giorgio takes a while to get going but is superb once it does. Everything else on the album just seems very downbeat and bland. Nothing stands out. It really is quite poor imo.

I agree with the comment above that the whole album sounds like something Daft Punk would sample rather than something they would make themselves.

Such a shame.

ETA : Yes, far too much funky guitar.

For all the reasons you've just posted, that's why it's a top Daft Punk album for me.

Human after all and Discovery were pop pish really.

RAM is back to the good old days. Different songs but same ethos.

That's fair enough, each to their own and all that.

To me, Daft Punk is electro French house at it's best. Tracks like One More Time, Aerodynamic, Digital Love, HBFS, Around The World, Revolution 909, Ouverture, Da Funk, Rollin & Scratchin...

Human After all was a step in the wrong direction for me. Yes, it was original and creative but it was lacking in any emotion or melody. Just tacky lyrics laid over the same squelchy bass sound on every track.

Contact reminds me of Electronic Battle Weapon No.8 by The Chemical Brothers. They way it builds up thoughout, and that's a superb track. The same with Giorgio. It does the same. Starts off sounding a bit bland and really goes for it at the end. Love it. Doin It Right is nice. I like the sound of the lyrics a lot.

The rest of the album though... Tacky robot voices laid over funk guitar. No thanks.

Well after three listens, I didn't like it, tried a bit more, got lured in; bought it on CD. Bizarre!

I've bought it on the back of the review in the Independent last weekend. It hasn't turned up yet - will be interested to see what it's like - I'm not a huge Daft Punk fan but it sounded wiorth a try.

I'm still not feeling it. I'm Ebaying my copy. I've tried to like it, but its just too disco'y for my liking, and I don't like any of the slower ones. Disappointed.

The slower tracks are definitely weak points but the rest raises the album enough for me.

Get Lucky is THE Summer tune!
