I'm aware of that, one of the cheaper (ebay type) kits was mentioned above; we fitted one of these a customer supplied that was poor quality. He ended up re-buying the genuine bits.

For such crucial components I wouldn't scrimp.

I know ebay has been critisised for the quality of the componants, but really they do seem to be 20 - 40% less money for the same quality.
Gates Mazda premacy belt from motor actors £140 ish, ebay £100 for the same item. (Assuming gates stuff that comes in a gates box, with gates intructions is a Gates belt)
I'd not use a £3.50 chineese copy, but the genuine article at lower prices - what's wrong with that??

'OE spec' and 'OE supplier' are terms well open to interpretation.

With such cruicial components I personally would stick to manufacturer original parts. Is a £40 saving on a belt worth a wrecked engine?

Personally, I would say that there's nothing to choose between OEM, Gates and Contitech - I'd be perfectly happy fitting parts from any of these 3.

ebay-sourced "linglong cam wheel driving band company", less so. wink
