You really think you can tell people what they need to believe in?

A man has been murdered because people are arguing about who has the best imaginary friend.

Religion, in virtually all forms, has no place in a civilised and educated society.

Whoa steady on there mate. Dont upset your god for the sake of me!

You cant publicly disagree with what he does!

Unless you think he didnt do this himself? I thought he did everything in your view? Or are you one of these 'pick and choose the bits I feel like following' religious types?

I'm not telling anyone what they need to believe.
so believe in what every you want to believe in I'll fight for your right to believe in what ever or nothing.

I only want the right to believe in what I want to believe, without ridicule from the likes of Dawkins or you.
The same rights I am prepared to extend to you.

Again islam isn't prepared to do that and it appears neither are you.

And guess what? Religion thrives there. Or communism.

In a sentence, replace the word God with Brian Blessed and it really does highlight how silly the whole thing is.

So where exactly would we get our morals from?
The evolutionary advantage they bring.

Most aspects of "moral" behaviour seem to be innate and present in all population regardless of religion.

What religion most often does is excuse or demand immoral behaviour, such as genocide or the enslavement or murder of "infidels".

Steven Weinberg said:
Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
He's not wrong.

Anyone who behaves morally only because they fear divine retribution is not good, they are frightened.

Why should ridiculous ideas which happen to be religious in nature be immune from ridicule?

He's a drummer, so a bandsman who are usually medics in the field. And yes it's the equivalent rank to Pte.

RIP mate.

He's an infantry soldier, might be trained as a medic but his primary role is an infantry soldier not a dedicated medic. It doesn't matter anyway, it's a silly thing to get tied up in.

People need to differentiate between Muslims and Islam. 99.9% of the Muslims in this country would be as appalled as anyone else over this barbaric attack. And that's because most of the Muslims in this country ignore all the violent parts of Islam just like most of the Christians in this country ignore the violent parts of the Old Testament.

Anybody picking up a Koran or reading about the life of Mohammed can see a glaring fact – which is that although Islam certainly has many invocations to violence within its core texts and the life of its founder, it is also threaded through with calls for peace. It is a contradictory religion just as we are contradictory people.

So for people like Dave and Boris to say 'this has nothing to do with Islam' is bks and doesn't help to solve the problem because when you listen to what these Islamists say to justify their actions, it has a LOT to do with Islam.
