The nicotine can occasionally be too much for me as a non-smoker.

Categorically yes.

Most of the people I know who enjoy a cigar now and then are in fact non-smokers.

Sample size: about a dozen smile

It depends on how you classify "smokers".

By definition, as they occasionally smoke cigars they are in fact smokers.

(I wouldn't imagine any non Scots would get that).
I get it. I get stuff.

Anyway, back on topic, I don't smoke it's a hateful habit. But I'm a bit hypocritical, I've had the odd cigar on occasion. Weddings, births, that sort of thing. Seems the done thing somehow.

Sorry, they aren't cigarette smokers smile

Most only have a cigar of an evening now and then. As a bit of a delicacy to be enjoyed.

I smoke an occasional cigar, and I also smoke a pipe occasionally. I can take them or leave them. The other half, however, has smoked cigarettes since she was at school, and can't (or won't) stop.

Have a box on King Edward Invincibles in the cupboard, must be three weeks since I last smoked one.

Absolutely. I don't smoke but love the odd cigar at BBQs, weddings, and various celebrations. I'll be having one tomorrow after my last ever exam. Its all about the taste and the occasion for me, I have to have a good excuse for one.

Are they really that dangerous though? You don't inhale them and I didn't realise here was much if any nicotine in them.

ETA: personally use cgarsltd.co.uk

It must be seven or eight years ago now that I quit smoking. I usually buy a couple of nice cigars in the airport to smoke on holiday, though.

cant stand the smell of fags, or cigars...

shisha however is lovely. and as a non smoker it gives me the biggest headrushes. Lying on a beach somewhere in a nice hot country, pipe by your daybed.

cant beat that.

I absolutely despise cigarettes, I've had the odd few and hated the experience, can't stand it from the smell to the taste. I do however enjoy cigars though, Been around 3 weeks since I had my last one, which I bought to be shared for my mates 18th, and I never feel the need to "crave" a cigar, while most people need a fag for their nicotine fix. I'm also an occasional shisha smoker, for those who don't know, is flavored moist tobacco in a bowl which gets filtered through water, which is smoked by a pipe that's connected to the hookah. Again, I don't feel the need to crave shisha, last had shisha again, 3 weeks ago at my mates 18th, and the last time I sparked up the shisha that's in my home has been around 8 weeks. I consider myself a non-smoker.

Hang on, I don't get this.

All these "I don't smoke but I like a cigar" comments.

It's like saying "Yes, I take it up the 'arris but I don't push back so I'm not ghey"

If you smoke cigars, you're a smoker.

Nothing wrong with that, just don't be in denial.

Isn't that like saying "Your an alcoholic if you drink a glass of wine every Sundays"?

Dunno. I'd define a smoker as 'someone who smokes'. I like the odd cigar so consider myself a smoker. It's not a bad thing, is it??

ETA-NadiR, it would be more like someone who had a glass of wine once a week saying they're a 'non-drinker', for some bizarre reason.

For some of us "the odd cigar" is one every couple of years. In that timeframe, I don't feel the odd cigar makes me a smoker.

I bet if someone asks you if you smoke, you say "the odd cigar" rather than "no, I'm a non-smoker" though?

No, I'd say "smoking kills and makes you stink."

I would describe a smoker as someone with a nicotine addiction.
