It's a great looking car. One of Ferrari's best modern shapes easily.

But my God, so many owners do their best to ruin them with stripes, coloured wheels, (black wheels are naff IMO), weird two-tone paint schemes, black roofs and not speccing carbon bits for the outside (the plastic looks el-cheapo for £200k+ car).

^^^^^Agree with all of that.

Black wheels and roofs should be left to chav's imo......

It took me a long time to really like the styling, at first I thought they were too fussy but the more I looked at the little details the more I appreciated it.

As said, it depends on spec and colour though.

This was perfect:

Thank you John,,I am not saying anything bad here but I prefer the styling of the 355 360 430 to the 458 I also prefer the 360 to the 430, As you know that 360 will be coming my way, I also agree with many of the replies here, I think that left alone as factory finish preferably red with silver wheels it' looks best....IMHO of course, cheers Mike oh and It did look bloody good from my view!

458 for me looks fantastic. 430 is ok in standard form but better as a Scud. 360 better looking than the 430, and beautiful in CS guise. 355 is quite pretty but not my favourite.
All in my opinion(-:
Spot on IMO.

458 is a total dog of a car - total mish-mash......looks like a cross between a Toyota Celica a Hyundai Coupe and a Peugeot!

Last good looking Fezza was the 512BB IMHO!

Great looking car...in the right colour/wheel combo.

We are talking Italia!?...the Spider is not aesthetically pleasing.

Well we cant all like the same things, that would be boring!

I find the MP4-12C bland & uninspiring...
To me the 458 and the 12c are very similar shapes and look similar, although the 458 has fussier detailing whilst the 12c is more cohesive (which some view as bland).

Neither car struck me immediately as being great shapes but both are growing on
me with familiarity.

I've not driven the 458 yet but have an open invitation from my dealer....if it ever stops raining in Switzerland! Just read yesterday that we have had half the average number of hours of sunshine up to the end of May here in Zurich (300 vs 600
hours). They have even forecast snow for today. Lucky I hadn't got
around to changing the winter tyres on my cars!

This!

I prefer the 360 to the 458 because I appreciate the simpler classic styling but the 458 is right for this generation. A purely 'pretty' Ferrari just wouldn't appeal to the current 'worldwide' market. I think Ferrari are getting the balance right though, as borne out by their sales figures.

I think the headlights spoil it.

Angles that don't show the front look great. But when I see the face, I think "Eurrgghh..."

Like some of my girlfriends over the years, come to think of it...

I am afraid I fall on to the negative side here. As good a drive as the car is the styling from my point of view just does not hang together. The front and year look like the have been designed by too different committees who never spoke. The gaps between the wheel arch and the tyre are so big it looks like the front end lift system is permanently active. Plus some of the colour combos do the car no favours. The grey roof and grey lower panels on a red one I saw last weekend just looked like they were in primer waiting for the red top coat

I think it's very dependant on the spec and colour of the car. Some of the basic ones look great, but some of the highly spec'd multi colour carbon roof/sills etc can look a bit stupid..

This however...Lead to believe it's one of the highest spec 458 Italias to leave the factory, it's just awesome in my opinion! Nice and shiny too wink

In answer to the OP's question: probably more dramatic than good looking, but impressive to look at nonetheless.

Ugly or bland the 458 isn't

But I never quite understand why people choose yellow calipers. Like having a gold front tooth detract from a perfectly nice smile.

Same goes for the Scuderia shields people choose to put on the wings.

They look absurd.

Couldn't agree less, I wouldn't buy a car without shields. Each to their own!.

Another vote for the above. 458 is an outstanding piece of design - a familiar theme with long wheelbase, short overhangs, sloping front, muscular rear and cab forward (Dino, 308, 328, 348, 355, 360 and 430 all did that) but it has added a very modern feel to the old formula.

Not easy to do and the result is beautifully proportioned with lovely details. I know everyone has their own view but really, not beautiful? I can't see that. Some things just need applauding and the 458 is one.
