Doesn't sond like a genuine Leatherman to me, I don't recall anyone ever complaining about the quality or finish.
It was genuine, changed it for a swisstool x which i paid less than half price for so ended up getting a bit of a refund, im a fanboi of victorinox (Ive actually started to collect them) the build quality of the swisstool far surpasses the rebar and it has a lot more tools, all the tools lock & open from the outside.

It seems to me that the £60 and less leathermans have pure build quality and materials and im decidedly unimpressed. So the wave/MUT seem good/fine but the sidekick/wingman and rebar are poor.

ETA - Im not a leatherman hater, ive got a skeletool which i think is rather good and extremely light.

It is quite good. However, like the poster above I have the style cs on my keys. Love this scissors and tweezers more than the BG Compact you linked to.
Bought it anyway, just because it was cheap.

Will get a style cs as well, cos I'm sad like that.

Thinking of making my own bit driver / extender. I have loads from drills I have. Has anyone grinded one down? Would it be easy using a hand file??

Can anyone recommend or not, the extension and it set for the leatherman ?

It would be used on a wave, worth it?

Almost lost this last night coming back from Spain. Airport security scanners found it in my hand luggage. I looked for it at check in to put in my checked suitcase but missed it and assumed it was in my case already. Obviously I didn't look carefully enough and missed it. I thought all was lost but somebody I knew was still checking in so I ran back and gave it to him to put in his suitcase. Ended up not losing it but the downside was I did have to go through security twice.
This nearly happened to me but a helpful security guard at Luton airport pointed me at a vending machine where I was able to buy a padded, stamped envelope. I posted it back home to myself.

Leatherman Style PS by Lewis Craik, on Flickr

I feel a bit inferior, especially as this sounds like the one give to a 5 year old earlier in the thread, but I don't like belt pouches. This is the one with pliers and scissors, rather than scissors and a blade, pliers and a blade would have been my preference, but as Leatherman don't offer that, this is the option I went for.

Thread resurrection !

My 21st is coming up in December and tbh I don't really want nor need anything of particular use/importance to myself .

I do however have an old multi tool that I've had for years cheap old one but none th less I've had it for years and recently it is coming in handy !

I leave it in my car out of site and use it when necessary ....

Which got me thinking about a leatherman which I can keep for years and use as and when I see fit .

So can anyone recommend me a leather man ?

http://www.leatherman-store.co.uk/multi-tools-c27/...

The above has caught my attention as well... It looks st hot in my opinion I can get engraving put on it too which will hold mor significance as opposed to just a random tool/gift .

Does anyone have the above or recommend me on ?

Rich

Parents bought me a 'Wave' when I moved house. Not used it once.

I'm not a DIYer in the slightest.

Just did a quick Google...

HOW MUCH?

If you looking at the wave then you must also look at a vicnox swisstool spirit. I have both and the spirit is just nicer. It feels better and looks better, get one of those, have a look at a leatheman skeletool cx as well. That's also very nice. Carry that on my belt loop al the time. Also it's a bit more £££ but the charge al is very similar to the charge but has a 154 cm blade.

Ha ha I've seen what you've done there. It's the model of the blade.

I've a Leatherman Lock Knife which started me off. The k503x.

It also has a carbina/ bottle opener.

And recently I bought a Surge to go with it.

Quite like the swappable Jigsaw blade function. It comes with a jigsaw blade and file, but a nice option of carrying a metal blade, wood blade and file I thought.

Slight thread bump...

Thanks to reading this thread 3 days ago, this arrived today :-)

Now to find an excuse to use it...

Edit to make the picture something larger than microscopic.

As ive stated before I prefer the victorinox multi tools to the latest leathermans so defonately worth a look, also worth noting is that 154cm is a nightmare to sharpen.

My skeletool cx sharpens up very nicely with a small double sides sharpener. When I go to Belgium next ill take my spyderco to timms in Oostende, he's got the sharpmaker, if its any good ill get one.

If your looking for a multitool, and you have a go outdoors nearby then see if your choice is in stock, if it is then they will price match plus knock another 10% off. Bought quite a few from there.

Welcome to the club!

My leathermen (plural) are too underused, but so useful still!
