To be honest, I don't mind either, even though I voted for route 2. Part of me fancies doing some roads I've not covered before; part of me worries that this might be too much in one day! As a cheeky aside, is there any reason we couldn't do route 2 including the Gotthard pass from Hospenthal to Biasca (as opposed to the autobahn)?

Cracking selection of cars again this year, really looking forward to another great day out. Fingers crossed thsi miserable weather improves though.

Given the continuing, rubbish weather here in Switzerland (snow down to 500m in the next couple of days!!), is there a risk that the passes won't be opened by 15th June?

It has never happened before. We have always timed the run perfectly although two years ago it did start to snow on top of the Grimsal pass for a few minutes. They have predicted snow for anything above 500m in Germany as well so you are not alone.

Hopefully this low pressure will be gone by the middle of next week and we can look forward to some summer weather!

the weather has indeed been shocking! I had to sleep with gloves on one night a couple a days ago because the heating was already switched off centrally in the expectation of summer
Didn't help I was just back from 32deg in New Orleans...

Sorry, I'm in on for either route. Work is so busy that the Lotus still hasn't got its plates back - I've made arrangements to pick them up the week before so this will be it's first (and I hope not only) run this year.
