The real issue is your not being able to read or write and your dreadful attitude in a new environment. I have no idea what 'sonned off' even means as I don't do chavspeak (Scary Google was no help at all!).
If you'd care to actually check, provided you know how to do that - earlier evidence would suggest otherwise - you'll find I have expressed no opinion on the evidently fabulous vehicle you appear to be here to promote. Wrong again. I'd suggest you're out of your depth.
The dreadful attitude on this thread is why i am here in the first place. The comments on here about the Chinese are terrible. Just look around your home, as stated most of it will have 'Made in China'. Some of the components on your vehicle will be Chinese made. The vehicle brand you drive will be next.If you'd care to actually check, provided you know how to do that - earlier evidence would suggest otherwise - you'll find I have expressed no opinion on the evidently fabulous vehicle you appear to be here to promote. I am not sure how i've promoted it. Once again, its a vehicle i have and i've not had any issues. People on here find that hard to accept, bless them. They prefer a 'bad news' story to a 'good news' story.
and i quote 'The real issue is your not being able to read or write'....brilliant.

How did they only manage to get 300Nm of torque out of a 2.5l turbodiesel?
My BMW is 380Nm out of 2 litres of displacement.

I'm guessing this argument was settled pages back but I feel compelled to answer your question. My BMW is 380Nm out of 2 litres of displacement.

The 2.5l engine comes complete with a truck attached to it for roughly the same price as just your engine.

Surely if any its the current gen D40?
Blimey, didn't realise that was still current gen, I assumed they'd have brought out a new one by now.ETA - Apparently http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isuzu_D-Max
Although I can't see any outright declaration of platform sharing, so it could simply be a ripped off amalgamation of the two

Ok, i have wasted ten minutes reading this s
te and i too have no experience of the vehicle but thought i'd post and give my view anyway, son!
A local (in the uk) main dealer has recently taken on mitsibushi and great wall franchises, i've had a good look around the great wall steed expecting it to be rusty, cheap and falling apart, as for the £16k on the road? it can't possibly be built properly, can it?
Only it looked good, the spec seemed ok, everything seemed put together well. nothing was rusty, broken or falling apart, paint finish was acceptable (for a commercial) pannel gaps were ok and the whole thing looked capable and upto the job. I've seen a few locally on the roads and even chatted to one bloke about his who liked it. His words were not as good as his previous hi-lux but this is half the cost.
I can see them being very popular as a cheap pickup for farm/harbour use and just scrap it when it dies. My only real concern is how far away death could be, what the warranty is actually like (especially on corrosion) and what happens if the dealer locally pulls out. It might only be £16k but you'll be well pissed off if the engine blows up and the chassis rusts away inside the next three years.

Dealer is unlikely to pull out.. the Chinese are in it for the long haul.
No risk that they'll take away the business? That would leave a sweet and sour taste in everyone's mouths.(can't believe this thread has gone on so long without some bad puns)

Every day the internet exposes me to more and more idiots. Today is no exception. Until the arrival of the internet I had no idea there were so many of them. Will it ever end?
You and me both. It seems when some people get on the internet their balls become bigger than their brains

My brother has just bought a Steed 5, and I picked it up from the dealership yesterday. Nice enough to drive, seats are very comfy, the 2.5 engine has enough grunt for it. He got the 4x4 version.
Quite enjoyed being in the drivers seat, to be honest.

Good,
I think it is getting over the initial fact that "one is buying a Chinese truck"
There are a few preconceived ideas, that they will be total crap.
When, over here in China there are thousands, upon thaousands of them.

Aussie crash tests did not make it look good though:

also, they reliability has been less than stellar out there

I will say it again, in Aus, they got the 3 series Steed.
In UK, we are getting the newer 5 series Steed.
Chalk and cheese.

bet it does not make much odds when NCAP or ANCAP get one tested...I will say it again, in Aus, they got the 3 series Steed.

I would not go there, not for just that reason, but cause cost of ownership/practicality and function would be a no-no.

I disagree.IME the dealers taking on the Chinese brands are the bottom end of the industry who are just as likely to dump the franchise tomorrow as not is selling them becomes the slightest bit difficult.
The Koreans have only recently managed to overcome this (but not all Korean brands)
I have a colleague the works for MG and while the Chinese state that they are in it fot the long haul, they display a complete lack of understanding for the UK motor industry, their competition, brand perception and Customer care.
If they are to survive they will need to address these issues and the fact that they need their dealers far more than their dealers need them.
