This can't be true:

I'd literally wet my pants if we pulled this off. He may not be the wonderkid he was a few years back, but the guy works ridiculously hard and would really add something to the team. Imagine Rooney and Cisse up front
Still, it seems more likely that this is Ashley trying to drum up some free advertising for Sports Direct and Newcastle. A boy can dream....

Seems it's a load of bull. I guess the free advertising reason was correct.

It was a better performance without being brilliant - it will be an interesting off season, seeing who goes and who comes in?
I know this is a personal thing but I think we need to keep Colo, Cabaye, Ben Arfa (assuming he is over his injury issues) and sign a striker and 'another' centre half? ...and how about a midfield all-rounder...a multi-tasker...who can tackle, run, pass and shoot when the opportunity arises?
Who will leave?
Best wishes to Harp's - cheers for 20 years good service and a good send off on 37 mins.

It's been such a poor season that I'm not really sure where our problems lie.
We've always had that 'half-arsed' look about our play this season.
Yes, we've had injuries, suspensions, lost our main scoring threat and had to integrate a job lot of new players from January onwards, but our play has been so comically lacking in structure or incisiveness that, at times, we'd have been better off dragging 11 people from the crowd - certainly the 11 on the pitch didn't seem to know each others games, so it could hardly have been worse.
Well, we could have finished below the other lot, I guess.
There is much to do this summer and it is bound to be interesting. Will Pardew make it through to the other side of the close season?
One who will not, though, is Steve Harper. I'd like to thank him for the 20 years he's given the club, never once complaining and always being available when called upon. A proper professional.
To see the tears in his eyes yesterday as the crowd sang and applauded in the 37th minute was incredibly moving. The room got very dusty indeed.
Good luck Harps

I got the impression that Arsenal could have and would have stepped it up a notch if we'd have scored. We seemed to be right at our limit in the first half, which was kind of proven in the second (to me anyway) in that we looked very ragged and lacked composure.
We did look a lot better when Anita came on for Tiote though. Much more intent and pace to our game at that point.
I'm hoping some tough decisions are made this summer and we come back with some intent and purpose to our play.
On the plus side, as nice as European competition was, it'll be good to get back to a less demanding regime. I would like to see some firm commitment to the FA & League Cups next season though.

Going out in the FA Cup the way we have the past 2 seasons has been horrendous. f
k knows what's happened to Tiote as well, just a liability when he dwells on the ball or gives away another stupid free kick.
I deeply suspect he's been found out. He was never the quickest across the ground but this season gone he was achingly ponderous. You could see it coming a mile off.

I've thought for a few weeks that Sissoko may be better suited to that role, having a better range and engine than Tiote, thus freeing Cabaye up to play 20 yards closer to the strikers. I say strikers because only an idiot would go into next season thinking that playing a lone striker is going to get us anywhere.
Summer business:
1) Another actual striker
2) Another center-half / right back as cover
3) Keeping Colo
4) Recalibrating Taylor (not Ryan) - passion does not equate to ability. Step it up.
5) Showing Cisse a map of St James' Park, pointing out where the goals can be found.
6) At the same time explain the offside rule to him.
I've read Darren Bent is wanting to leave Villa. If he's cheap enough I reckon we could be in for him, he's a 20 goal a season striker when given games and proven in the Premiership.
After the season we've had, I think hanging onto the better players will be a lot easier than if we had repeated last season.

Bent doesn't fit in with the current recruitment profile though as he's too old. Think Debuchy was bought as an exception to the age rule but he was still only 26 or 27 I think.
Not saying its right, if your good enough your young/old enough but can see they're coming from with not wanting older players on big contracts at the end of their careers.
