And decision made. Picked up a 997T today. This was an excellent exercise in man maths of looking for a 25k 997c2s before considering a 996T and finally settling for a 997T at around 20k above original budget. Still, after driving it home i am sure i made the right decision. Shame it poured down most of the way home.

Correct decision!! I may be biased though. Are you based in Gloucestershire?

The wheels on a gen 1 997t are enough to put me off (they must be amongst the worst Porsche have come up with), but then I have a 996t, so may be biased!
You can't see the wheels from the driving seat nor do you care when on full bore on a Scottish B road biggrin

Congratulations on the 997T, love the man maths story, I went from £15k for a 996 c2 to £30k for a 996T. If I started at £25k who knows where it would have ended. Still getting used to the turbo!

My thoughts exactly. If you're struggling with a GT3 for pace, you're 'doing it wrong'.

Don't be fooled by the lack of fake turbo shove, the GT3 travels fast in another way. It never 'feels' as quick as a turbo car, but you don't realise how quickly it gathers real world pace. You try keeping the boot in, in 2nd and 3rd and see how quickly your licence evaporates!

It's pretty bog standard, meteor grey, manual, 2007, one owner. The only thing I don't like is the PCM2.1 and I suspect I will swap that out for a kenwood or pioneer touch screen unit within the month.

I am also in Cheltenham so will definitely keep an eye out for you. As for the A419, I have had too many close encounters of the camera van variety.................

Congratulations.

I'd have said a £50k 997 turbo isn't worth £20k more than a 996 turbo (especially a 996 turbo with X50).

At £40-45k a 997 turbo (if in good fettle) is a cracking buy. We need some pics.

The fact it poured down on the way home will have given you a good chance to see how capable these cars are.

enjoy! smile

996 Turbo's now at £35k and 997 Turbo's at £40k, both manual and under 50k miles.

Wouldn't even consider a 996 at this price, crazy

Compared with other 911's in this crazy world 35k is a bargain and looking at the adds the 6T is fetching more in some cases with prices on the up.
So though you might not want to pay 35k for a 996 there are loads that will, so I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
