Am I the only person who wouldn't donate a lot to charity?
i wouldn't either. i would prefer to create a trust with ring fenced money and an annual amount from which i can donate. this would give much more flexibility and end up paying out much more to good caused over my lifetime than a single lump. i imagine administering this would be my 'job' as it were.
I always liked the idea, after reading about Bill Gates dad. Apparently, he used to sit in his favourite diner administering payments to worthy causes from his sons fortune.

I wouldn't give any money to charity either, a depressingly small amount of any cash donated is actually spent on the cause the charity is purported to support.

I'd pay a dog/cat food manufacturer to deliver a quantity of food to the local animal shelter once a week instead.

Back on thread...

With £72m i'd give Dibble £.5m on the understanding he got the other £.5m when the video hits youtube laugh

I wouldn't give any money to friends or family either, i'd pay their mortgages off for them and clear any debts but I think a lump sum could do more harm then good.

The rest? The good old PH standby of coke 'n hookers smile

I think it would be funny to not tell the wife for a bit. Imagine the day when she comes home from work and sees an Enzo parked on the drive, she'll go spare. I can then explain we won the lottery and I didn't mortgage the house and for the past month she has been working for no reason smile
Although you'd be able to afford having your scrotum stitched back on several times over, would you really want to incite such a potentially unstable situation?!

No, because you'd have also paid for a highly accurate sniper, just in case.

This is going to sound really wrong but I'd like to be remembered all over the world so this is what I'd do:

- Put a bid in to try and buy a small country
- Force all inhabitants to become a military unit.
- Start invading other countries and being a general moron...

There are thousands of people out there with ridiculous fortunes but nobody will ever remember their names.. Look at Hitler, he was possibly one of the worst humans to have lived, but everyone knows who he is..

(Maybe I've got the wrong idea here...)

Utter garbage.

I know personally that a winner of the Euro lottery, lucky dip element, had the cash in their account the Tuesday after the weekend.

I'd sooner look into running and managing my own causes and paying out on a case by case basis than donate anything to any charity.
Well, paying out in that way is still giving to charity is it not?

Personally I am rather pleased that most people seem to want to give money to friends and help good causes.

I think £82 million is worth having now - £60 mill would have been iffy.

Isn't the normal lottery tonight? If you have won, can you let me know what the numbers will be?

Love the turntable/roundhouse idea posted earlier, definitely something I'd consider if fate ever dealt me the right hand.... had great fun operating the 'table at Old Oak Common depot when I worked there thirty odd years ago!

Family/friends/worthy causes gifting aside, the temptation for self indulgence would soon kick in (those turntable spaces would need filling, be rude not to etc)... Ferrari Lusso, 275GTB, 250SWB, Dino 246, 330GTC... Lambo Islero, Miura, 400GT... Maserati Ghibli, 3500GT, Bora... Aston DB5/6.... S1 FHC E-Type Jag, modified Mk2... Rover P5B Coupe (ie: restore the one I already have)... Bentley S3 Coninental... loads of Mk1/Mk2 Mini Coopers 970/997/998/1071/1275... various '60s Alfas... Jensen Interceptor... Citroen SM...

More self indulgence would have me building a studio which would be brimmed full with vintage Vox guitars and amps.... aural bliss!

Turn the heating on.
Collect and bank the cheque.
Write my letter of resignation to hand in after the weekend. (I'd work my notice purely out of respect for my colleagues).
Really, I wouldn't do that much, just stop worrying about affording the bills.

Notwithstanding all of the above, check out the 'fantasy garage' in my profile to see what I'd spend it on once I'd had a couple of weeks' rest biggrin
