Okay well let me know. Huddersfield is a bit far, although I have just applied for a coaching job there so if I get it (very unlikely unfortunatly) then should be easy enough to see you. It would also mean we'd need to find a gym there which I am allowed to train you at which can be very difficult. I have one sorted near me that I can just bring people to no questions, we just have to pay to get in so this would be the best option.
Can take a while to get an MRI scan, bin there and done it. Hope all is alright.
I've got a power cage and what not in the garage which is where I work out so wouldn't need to find a gymCan take a while to get an MRI scan, bin there and done it. Hope all is alright.
Good luck with the job, where is it for?
Yeah I've managed to get an appointment with the specialist in just 2 weeks which was a nice surprise. So hopefully I land lucky with the MRI (knowing people at the hospital helps

Well the other issue would just be time to get to you. It's around bradford so could comfortably take me close to an hour to get to you, then back again taking up 2 hours of travelling for a 1 hour session so not great econony of my time if you see what I mean. Most of my other work is actually north Leeds so coud take me longer depending on where I'm coming from. But where there is a will there is a way so if you're still keen I'm sure we'll be able to sort something good out.Good luck with the job, where is it for?

)The job is S&C coach at Huddersfield Town. I have everything they want and more, just not had a lot of work in football and I'm sure it'll go to someone who's been within football for years. It's how team sport coaching goes.

Definitely good luck then, big Town fan. Thankfully we seem to have got rid of most of the idiots but no doubt we will sign a few more this summer
What sort of strength based work do footballers do during the season? Or do they tend to get most of it in during pre season?

I've never done a low bar squat! Just never fancied it. I have enough trunk lean doing high bar!
Today was HARD! nakered but solidered through and lifted decent weight...
Squats
1 x 5 at 180kg
2 x 5 at 190kg
Bench Press
3 x 5 at 120kg
Chins
2 x 5 at 25kg
1 x 5 at 30kg
Standing OH press
3 x 5 at 70kg
Gunna pick the weights up a little next session.
Oh, I'm on twitter now - @ChrisbaldwinSnC if anyone wants to follow me. A little late to the game but apparently it's good for business so trying to get involved.

I guess it depends a lot on the coach. I see no reason not to do strength work throughout the season. I would cycle a lot of the real heavy stuff into pre season and work more towards power and speed throughout the season but continue strength development. Might have to give it a go then. Will probably try it once I reduce the reps down to 3s as I have issues with my elbows a lot so don't fancy too much sustained pressure. DSharp said:
Cheers, the pressings OK, squats and deadlift aren't as impressive (yet...)
150kg bench is very impressive, especially considering the volume you'd been up to before it.TheBALDpuma said:

Tbh, this puts your squat numbers into even better perspective because when I hear of people squatting decent numbers, I tend to assume it's by low bar work. What are the coaching cues for the olympic high bar squat? Youtube is full of informative videos for powerlifting style squatting but less so for Olympic
Do you want to be breaking at the knees and hips simultaneously but the hip break is more straight down rather that any backward movement? It's hard to get rid of that pronounced hip break when you've been trying to force yourself to do it for so long

2.36 miles today around Sefton Park in Liverpool. Took 21:45 minutes which I feel I can definitely improve on.
Had four hours sleep last night and was up at 5am today for work so was happy that I soldiered through it, legs felt heavy the first mile.
Main aim is to lose fat so i'm exercising 5 days a week in a run-workout-run-workout-run routine.

Highbar carries really well over to low bar so I'd expect a jump in numbers when you've figured it out (low bar doesn't carry over to high though). If you go wide grip, with thumbs over the bar, that should help with any elbow pain, though it feels strange initially. Juanco20 said:

You just don't push your hips back. It's quite hard to change a squat technique you've been doing for years. You just need to sit straight down into your hamstrings rather than sticking your arse out. It's easier to do if you practice front squats. Force the more upright position. Although I have recently seen lots of people doing what I like to call "back to front squats". It's essentially a back squat with the bar on the front.Do you want to be breaking at the knees and hips simultaneously but the hip break is more straight down rather that any backward movement?
