This is how it was served by my Swedish friend; with some boiled potato, tomato, raw onion, gherkin, sour cream, and plenty of aquavit to wash it down. Prepared and served outdoors as it really does stink, I actually quite liked it, but another surstromming virgin was heaving before he got within a couple of feet.

It's here! Thanks Pferdy for posting it to me.



Thankfully the can survived a few days in the sorting office, and then another in a hot car redface I can only presume the 'red wolf' in the design is howling at the smell smile

The date underneath says it's good until Jan 2014, so rather than eat it straightaway, I'm going to get trapping crayfish to have a proper Scandinavian feast lick
