I saw this on tuned. What a car! Congrats to the owner.

I should probably read the entire thread but is there much info on your compound/twin charge system you built? I would very much like to achieve something similar in my R53. Half the power you are rocking but in a FWD is pushing it!!

So while I was doing my shakedown up on Mulholland yesterday I stopped to shoot the breeze with the guys at the lookout. After a while a nice green old 65 Elan pulls in and it's Jay Leno. He automatically get's the fan swarm and in a minute he's walkin over to look at the RS211.... So it's now a case of I'll show you mine if you show me yours first... wink

So Jay takes off his bonnet to show me his new alloy block 2 ltr. very nice I say and now let me show ya a nice little 1.8 ltr.
As soon as I tilt the rear clam he asks me to come down to his garage to do a video for his You Tube channel.

I guess I'll have to go to Burbank now ehh ? wavey

Well erm... WOW nicely done there. What a read! Did the whole thread now and blimey there's some work going on here. Great improvements with the body and aero!

I wish there was a little more info on your engine! I'd love to run something like this (much less power though) as breaking the 300whp barrier in the mini has not too many options so adding in a turbo to an already supercharged engine is a great idea and you've done it in style!! Is the charger on a magnetic clutch or is it constantly running?

Very cool car this!!!!!! Time to get out and enjoy it.

I think Frank added a Supercharger to an already Turbocharged engine.

Oh, I read that wrong then... I thought the supercharged kit was on first?

Either way. Awesome.

In the early days it had a single SC kit but power was limited.

I think Frank tried a twin screw SC but the product was "very poor" so he went Turbo.

That was the start of the big power era.

Then bigger turbo and more power.

Final step was to add an SC to the turbo motor.

Sure Frank will be along with the exact timeline later.

A few other improvements along the way.

Are you talking about a R53 MCS? if so then it already been done and done quite a lot! the problem is heat and too much of it getting to the supercharger. in a MINI R53 there just isn't room for an intercooler between the turbo and supercharger. I know frank isn't running on in his setup, and he seems to be getting away with it.

If you google madmac's twin charged EVO you will see some pics of his setup that is running VERY will in the hillclimbs.

Yeah exactly that. I have a R53 and it's running 200whp and I would much like to break 275-300 whp some day!

I've seen that Evo and it's awesome. Nearly as savage as this... well this is another level!

Any examples of a twin charge R53? I would have thought you could run a FMIC for the turbo and the GP top mount for the supercharger? I would think the length would make a difference to driveability?

The issue with a mini engine is the layout. You have to have a large enough charge cooler after the supercharger and efficient heat exchanger to make it all work.

Sometimes ya just gotta say I bought the wrong car to modify. I knew from day one that I would be doing something stupid with the Lotus.
