Don't worry Scott - it's always done that (8 years +). It used to concern me too smile

As has been mentioned, I think the noise is the injectors.

ETA - I've just remembered your jacket getmecoat

I'll post it to you today smile

wouldn't like 4th gear at 30mph in mine, to lumpy, think you are in too high a gear, the speed 6 is much revvier than the ajp8 where you have bucket loads of low down torque, so drop it down a cog.
I can drive mine at 30mph in 5th and its fine!

It's been driving great another 200 miles done this weekend but back to work in the morning frown over 1000 miles in 2 weeks ain't bad going.

Just being paranoid I think and getting used to its sounds. No worries I am still to send you that tenner.

I went through the Sp6 paranoia thing with my Tuscan but it was actually a very good one, and this Cerb seems to have a beauty too - you're welcome to come and have a listen anytime...

Hi

New to sp6 ownership and know my AJP8 sounds like a bag of spanners when cold and after doing over 10k in it know its sounds and how it should be.

I am a little paranoid about my new tuscan as when driving around town at 30mph in 4th gear off throttle at around 1400rpm it sounds as if the car is knocking ???? i know it is a bit agricultural like the ajp but i dont know what normal sounds like.

The car makes no noise under hard load and pulls well with good readings on the gauges please tell me i am looking it to things to closely. ( I have only covered 1000 miles in a week and a bit so still getting a feel for it smile.

Cheers Scotty

Mine sounds completely different. But then I don't have Finger Followers and I have sequential ignition.

My memory of the engine back when it was stabdard is that it sounds like a demented sewing machine. smile

Well I couldn't drive below 2k rpm in 5th when I first got my 3.6.
Can now though, almost down to 1500(don,t though as it just doesnt feel right with such a revvy engine) and haven't changed the diff or any other gearing.
The only thing that has changed is the new Power head. Although I haven't confirmed it to be sure, I'm convinced the new cams have a subtly different profile allowing for a little more low down torque.

Note sure about low revs in high gears. The big ends will be labouring under the load with not a lot of oil pressure and more time for the oil film to break down. I can pull 5th at 30 but prefer 2nd or 3rd. These things are rev hungry.

Also means a stab of right foot has an instant effect......

A speed six should sound like something like this Tamora at the weekend

Turn the volume up and hang-on.
