I can't stop thinking how cheap this hateful little thing would be to run. Still too pricey tho methinks.

That must do Epic MPG
My first car was a diesel 106 and I can confirm they do silly mpg.

50+ even when being used as a take away delivery car!
They also lift off oversteer like mad, better than the Rallye I had!

Not sure on the osf repair though, it may have damaged something steering related if the knock was bad.
But at £600 beggers can't be choosers.

Dorset
arse.
If you're keen give him a call and find out where in Dorset it is. If it's not too far from me I do't mind going to have a look at it for you.

Repair? The door has blown open and broken the check-strap by the look of it. The wing still lines up correctly, if it had graced a solid object it would be noticably ruined.

Depends - I owned a fairly knackered Saxo version for a bit and you have to drive with your foot to the floor, which doesn't help; still got mid 50s though. Having said that, it looks a lot better shape than mine and that probably counts for a lot; a service resulted in a noticable increase in mid-range power for me.

Alex are there any major issues with them? I do up to 60k miles a year so need something reliable and cost effective.

My Audi for example. Its only real weak points are...well the only thing I can think of is the clutch which I have done twice in 400k miles once because of a broken 40 quid oil seal causing oil on the clutch.

oh and the aircon which hasn't worked in years due to a failed compressor or some such nonsense.

Its never needed any glow plugs injectors etc so just concerned about that aspect.

Also are they easy to self maintain?

That wouldn't be worth £800 with an MOT, let alone with nothing on it and some mysterious faults.

Allegedly a FJSH car with 1 previous owner (so 2 in all, not like the ad says), could well be in thread budget?

Ad info from DVLA link says 0 previous owners so current seller hasn't registered it in their name.

Yeah, saw that - but the seller can't make up his mind if it was <his> car, or a trade purchase when you read the ad. One minute it's one previous owner, the next it isn't. He's only selling it because he's bought an XJR apparently, which wouldn't accord with it being a trade sale, and if it isn't a trade sale why isn't it in his name?

Blimey chum. Are you a HATO who uses his own car or something? That's a lot of miles.

My 155 1.8TS was that colour. Only paid £401 for mine 3 years ago and it is still just about going for my BIL after my FIL ran if for a year. I miss it, these Alfas really have character. But then again you could say Saddam Hussein was a character....

89k miles? With THAT seat?
Looks about right if it's gone 14 years without any leather care and a heavy arse punishing it.
And the price has miraculously risen £200. Can't sell car therefore price must be too low. Strange logic.

Maybe he thought it was suspiciously cheap beforehand. Didn't notice if it included the 'tax and fuel' beforehand? Clutching at straws really adding fuel to the advert!
